i was reading the "power pages " of import tuner (cuz quite frankly the grassroots, car and driver, and moter trend copies were taken...dammit) and i found a RSX-S dyno'd with a K and N intake DC header and Greddy exhaust.

it's base line dyno was 176whp...with the intake it gained 10whp. with the exhaust it gained 2.3 whp...and once they slapped the header in it gained 2 whp. with all the mods in it was able to squeeze out at 191+whp. the gains seemed to be about consistent to what a 2ZZ would get from these mods.

i just posted because it seemed quite interesting that there was such an uproar with the DC header giving out only 2whp when it seems that even on the mod friendly RSX-S it gained about the same.

on another note...people would spend 500 dollars on a TRD exhaust for 5whp but would cry about 220 dollars for a header that gains 10whp from stock or 2 whp with I/E?

discuss...

saw that page on IT. GTS should be able to keep up with RSX-S. just saw a GTS w/CAI & custom exhaust rapped a ITR w/AEM CAI & DC header & some cat-back exhaust by 2 cars length this past weekend...

that could be driver more than anything else... and ITR is 190hp off the box and those B18s react well to breather mods

^yeah, could be that too...in any case, it seems like the dc headers are more of a dress up/bragging rights than actual performance gain...

I've heard their race headers give them 10+whp, so the TPR race header should be just as good, if not better since it includes a midpipe. cool Here's an RSX header comparison dyno:

Blue = stock
Red = DC CAI, shorty header, and catback
Green = DC CAI and catback, and Jackson Racing race header

DC shorty header (looks nicer than the one we got rolleyes ):

Why get the same car when you can get something faster? The RSX and Celica are practically the same, except the RSX has a slightly better interior, and the Celica has better handling and braking. If you want fast, get a WRX or SRT-4.

I was just wondering the same. Whats so good about RSX's interior? I like the celica interior better because the shift thing connects to the music system and the RSX it doesnt connect to anything. Its just there. Not sure if anyone can understand what Im saying, its kinda hard to explain without pictures.

Yes, people have complained about all the plastic in the Celica's interior, yet they don't seem to remember what made the Celica is so light in the first place. wink

I believe plastic with vinyl on the upper half, and also some fabric. It's quieter inside than a Celica, too, so that means it also has more sound deadening material (same stuff I'm working on getting rid of on my car tongue ). I believe it also comes with a stock subwoofer, so that won't help with the weight situation, either. wink
