I have a 2002 celica GT. Still has the stock stereo in it.

I would like to add Sirius into my car but I am not sure of a good spot to mount the reciever. I really don't want to get a new sirius compatable head unit. I would prefer a plug and play box so it can be taken inside instead of being dedicated just for my car. (better value that way)

I just can think of a good spot to install the receiver/cradle. Anyone else out there have a satalite install.

I also have a Dell DJ which I am installing using a proclip center mount.

Any ideas, pictures would be appreciated...

Thanks,

I put it under my seat. I had the antenna on the roof. Didn't like it. Moved it behind one of the rear side panals in the back. Didn't pick up stations there. Got tired of it and threw it in my closet.

Do you want convienience or functionality or better looking?

Id go for a better looking place...put it in the top flip up thing! its easy to install. ez as pie. if you have any questions regarding install lemme know but as of now im goin to bed smile

Ill come back to this topic tomorrow if theres anymore input.

Also, why Sirius and not XM? is it because you like sports?

I am into the NFL and NHL (not this year). I know XM has ACC (college - Atlantic Coast) and NBA but I am not into those as much. So that is why Sirius is getting more consideration than XM.

I was thinking about installing in the popup compartment as an option. I like the XACT since it has the option to be taken anywhere (can be used like a walkman), but I dont think it will fit in there. I could be sold on a differnt unit as long as it can be used in the car as well as in the house/office. I just don't spend that much time in the car to justify the cost... So that might have to be the route I go...

I talked to a couple audio installers today and none of them as of yet had installed a cradle based unit in a 7th gen celica. They have only done the head unit and receiver route so they didnt have any useful ideas (sigh)...

I like the Sirius Sportster its called its like a mini version of the Deiphi Skyfi, i dunno if any places still have it but you can bring it in and out just like the majority of them. i think the one yur talking about is odly shaped and theres a boombox for it where you can fit two of them in it correct?

I know Best Buy still has the Sportster. Did you have that in yours before? After looking at the storage comparment above the radio, it doesn't look like many of them will fit in there unless unless it is shorter in size...

Best buy also had one which was a windshield mount (cradle is held by a medium size suction cup), think it was made by JVC.

I may just end up sitting on this project for a bit. There will be more receivers coming out as time goes on, and maybe that would end up providing some better options...

Did you go with a head unit/receiver option or the plug in play option?

$12.95... I had XM before my car got broken into, then went and tried out Sirius, I like Sirius a lot more.. in my opinion.. if you dont want to mount the antenna on the roof, I mounted mine on the rear hatch and it works great, I've never had any trouble with reception at all..
