Two question for you..

Does you hood sort of bounce or move visibly while driving at speed?? I ask because a frined of mine has and APC Hood on his Focus and it does that.

Also is there any issues with painting Carbon Fiber?? As far as how long the paint lasts, fades... etc.

Does your friend have hoop pins in addittion to the latch? Usualy pins will stop that, its unsafe to run with a Carbon Fiber hood without them becuase the hood latch is just epoxeyed in there and after a while it could break off and your hood will fly up and hit the windsheild. And yes you can paint Carbon Fiber but you need to get a good primer coat on there.

Check the latch bro get some hood pins. My dad's Lexus does that and it's a stock hood. Guess it depends on the wind

On the stock hood there are rubber bumpers on the front corners of the hood they have thread on them like a screw, if you screw them out (slowly, "little by little") the hood will stop bouncing/moving. Screw them out a little, then try closing the hood, see if it's still moving. If you screw them out too much, the hood won't close, then you just screw them back in a little. If the Lexus doesn't have those bumpers on the hood they should be on the rad support (the bar where the actual hood lock is mounted. Every stock hood has those bumper things. I'm not really sure if the Carbon Fiber hoods have the rubber bumper things.

No the Carbon Fiber hoods don't have them I modified my Carbon Fiber hood with those rubber bump stops. They help adjusting the gaps as well. thumbsup

If he doesnt have a set of pins its gonna bounce.. might even fly up goin at high speeds, because those latches on the hood are just plastic.
