That car is MAD!! I found out about it in Road & Track and it has AWSOME power and transmission. I mean, this things transmission puts manual to shame. It has a V10 with 507 hp and 384 torque. And the transmission is, I belive, an intergraded 7 speed sequencial tranmission. Im not to sure the exact name of the trans but its AWSOME from what I read. Id post the article but im not sure if that illegal.

Indeed, an awesome car... but too many gizmo's for me. You have to push a button on the dash to have the engine produce 507 HP. Under normal conditions, it runs at 400 HP to raise efficiency. There are also three different settings for the suspension that can be adjusted from inside the vehicle, three different settings for the shifter, and a different mode for "launching" the car when racing. That's just ridiculous. When I get into a supercar, I want to push in the clutch, pick my gear, and go... not fumble around with six computer systems built into the dash before I can race.

sequential transmission is a clutchless manual. looks like it's the new craze...

probably the reason it has different setting for shifting and launching is because the lack of the clutch denies you complete control of how your car goes, so it's an attempt to put more control back in the hands of the driver.

I definitely wouldn't mind owning one...

^^ exactly, with paddle shifting you won't even have to take your hands off the steering wheel.

The Mclaren F1 uses a paddle shifter...and several Ferraris...

Yes, but their sequential manual transmissions don't have "sport", "comfort", and "full-auto" mode. rofl

the sequential is gonna be an option when it comes to the US. I heard that we are getting a 6 speed standard manual, and that the sequential is like teaching a girl how to drive stick.

I wouldn't bash the M5 for being the top performance sedan out there. If BMW wanted it to be an all out sports car...it would have a 7-speed manual.

and the button to put it in it's aggressive mode (m-drive) is on the steering wheel...you push it and there you go...it's not exactly fiddling. For launching you push either the same button or one right next to it...push the gas to the floor...and the computer revs it to it's optimum launch...and you're off like a rocket. BMW's all new transmission is also i believe the fastest 'paddle shift' trans out there.

Another thing that's cool...is it has the capability to basically design your own ecu/fuel management system or whatever you want to call it. Props for a 2 ton 4 door boat that can haul ass...rev a v-10 as high as our 4-bangers...plus have a ton of totally trick features. thumbsup

The McLaren F1 has a stick shift.

What version of the F1 is that? There are several versions out there, and I believe some of them do have paddle shift...

EDIT: I stand corrected, I can't find an F1 with a paddle shift.

However I have seen Ferraris and a few others with it.
