When performing my preventative lift bolt switch i found that the intake side bolt was separated. So now Im faced with do i try to get it out myself or should I just bring it to a toyota dealership and let them fuck around wit it. When I bought the car I got a good deal so I also purchased a 4 year 48000 mile warrenty that will cover it but the warrenty has a $50 deductable. So should I do it myself and risk it or should I just cough up the50 bones and send it in?

if you are capable of doing it urself and are machanical incline then go for it..but know that it will take you an entire day to do it..i think falkkor on here had his lift bolt broken and it took him an entire saturday to do it..if i were you i would bring it to toyo and have them do it...they put out the TSB for lift bolt for celi year 00-02 i think..and they should replace it for free..tell them there is no power after 6k rpm..and let them take care of it for free..

what is the "TSB"...my celi is at 61k...and it has a little boost above 6k but it doesn't seem like it's that much...and it would be the first time the bolts would be tightened or changed on my car...so it will prob. be needed soon anyway right? Since i'm after the 60k warranty...will they still fix it for free?

yup..TSB=Technician Service Bulletin..it's a recall you can say..since it's the first time and if the bolt had broke, they will replace it for free..did you open the cylinder cover to see if it's sheared?? i would call ur dealer and explain the problem, they probably won't charge you for it..tell them you feel like there isn't much power boost after 6k-redline..if you feel uncomfortable checking them urself then that's wat i would do..i changed mine like 4months ago and it's still good..

Well i just bought my car and its at 39000 now so i figured I should change them but when I opened it up the intake one was busted up. So right now I have a new one and a broken old one. Did all celicas come with that 6 year 60000 mile powertrain or was that optional. Cause if they all came with it then i dont need to use my warrenty that I bought with the deductable.
