i have done some research and these are factory compression ratios on turbo engines:evo-8:8:1///gsx-8:5:1///sti-8:0:1///skyline-8:5:1///srt4-8:1:1---------------from what i have seen i think i will change my compression ratio to the 8:8:1 after i get the turbo but how much horsepower would i lose if i did that without the turbo or would i lose any??

Without boost you would lose at lot of horsepower. Going from 11.5:1 to 8.8:1 for a naturally aspirated car is like having a turbo car with a dead turbo, there is like no power at all. You would probably lose maybe like 20hp,not sure exactly how much, but since the car is tuned specifically as a high compression engine there will definely be some power lost.

but the loss will be well worh it since 1 lb of boost is like 12 hp so i drop it to 8:8:1 lose 20hp up boost by 2 lbs and back to original then up the boost another 5 lbs and be good right that way i would be aroung 15 lbs of boost on a strenghted engine should be good

Dropping the compression will allow more boost and more power but as your first statement stated without boost dropping the compression is dumb but is great for you turbo idea.
If you are really planning on high boost you may want to talk with whomever you are ordering your turbo kit from or the people you're ordering your rods and pistons from, they should have some experience and help you get the right compression.

I've heard of people running like 6lbs of boost with stock 11.5/1 compression. Could you keep stock pistons if you only boost it slightly?

Yes on low boost like 6 psi, you can run on completely stock internals. The only upgrade you would need is a new clutch. However most people get boost happy and arent content with staying at 6 psi.

i probably would wanna boost it up a month after i get it but i am gonna go evo compression on this one since 8:8:1 is the highest i have seen done on a factory turbo engine and i have seen evos factory turning boost up to 20 psi so i'm gonna try it...someday soon i hope

Im currently boosting at 8psi in my GTS. Im also in the process of getting the 8.8:1 forged pistons, rods and probably sleeves. Running at 14psi with these forged pistons will get you to aprox 320whp. Clutch is a MUST, and take care of your transmission. Oh, and please do not use the 8.8:1 pistons if you are not going turbo; the loss will be more than 20whp.
