Depends on the car . . . assuming it's a Celica I would opt for show over go. Even if you put all your money into performance on a Celica there are stock cars like the Evo, WRX STi, 350z, Rx-8 etc. that Celis just can't compete with. Given that, why sink money into a car that will get toasted by better equipped stock vehicles? What you CAN do is look as good or better than all of these cars though.

It's all about picking battles you can win!

Well, no matter what you do to your car, there will always be a faster one. Don't listen to this comparison because these are cars that are not in our class.

As for your question though, it is all preference. If you want turbo and are real serious about speed mods, then do that. Or if you are more looks, go for that.

Me, I'm both. I want my car to look good, but don't want to be a bitch on the road...know what I'm sayin? I know that I will get beat by many cars, but I will also be able to beat many cars. What I did, is bought the expensive performance stuff first (bolt ons) and bought cheap appearance stuff. Now I am spending money on the expensive show stuff. You could do it that way, or the reverse way. This may be confusing when you read this, I hope you understand.
But now I am back to performance again, still debating on everything.

Hope that helps. Good luck and keep us updated.

The reality is the Celica is just not a true performance car no matter how you mod it . . . I love mine but it has limitations.

My theory is if i have a car with all show and no go im ganna get laughed at so just build up your engine as much as you can without getting turbo [if you want show] that way when you have a good looking exterior and when people look under your hood they wont be like what the fuck just stock you know so i do both on mine i am the same as dan first performance then serious show stuff thumbsup In the end though its your car so do what YOU like and in what order you want. Good Luck man.

Ultimately you should just mod your car in a way that makes you happy regardless of what others think. For most that is a little of both - performance and show.

We Celicas are a bunch of posers by default. Myself, I pimped out my sound and looks, with never an intention to do any performance work (mostly because I didn't know shit about it).

Now that I'm almost done with the looks, I went and installed a new CAI yesterday, just so that it wouldn't be stock.

I got my ass spanked by an Evo 20 minutes ago, but I looked damn good doing it. My next car will have a V8, at the least. Nawwwws!

I go for as much show as i have power to back it up, i don't want to ride down the street and having my system being able to push more power than my car. I also don't like to be beat so what i did was get the cold air and exhaust, then i did some looks, then i did my system, now i'm going for a new body kit and some new asthetics since i messed up my front bumper and after that its getting a fuel computer and a turbo before next summer, along with some pulleys, flywheel, a new ignition system and if i'm lucky nice tank of nos in the trunk. Then i'll go to the real internals of the engine to squeeze that last bit out of it.

yes this too because it is not like you have money for everything all at once...it's just what you want at that time or how you want to start modding it.

but in my case...I saved money for all at once.

I don't really care much for 1/4 mile times, what cars I can beat and such so I would go all show. tongue But the only performance stuff I would get would be little things like an exhaust, intake, possibly headers and that's about it. wink

mmm... interesting opinions. i must say, the celica, in stock form, has a pretty good appearance to come with. i think most cars dont look as nice as it, except the ones that go beyond the 100 grand mark. me, i still dont have a celica. not even a license. but, hopin to take drivers ed next year, and get it soon. when i get my celica, i think im gonna go for the smaller performance mods, and then maybe save up for a body kit. thanks for yur opinions guys (and gurls, if any)

hope i get my celica soon (i mite need a drivers license first)
