its probably for the seat belt warning thing, if you notice, theres a sensor that notices when theres weight on the passenger seat...in the center of your dashboard is the passenger seatbelt light, it comes on when someone sits and doesnt have their seatbelt on

this is how i would do.. clean the seat with everything that i can use.. leave the seat outside for fresh air until the smell is gone.. if it doesnt work.. then leave the seat out. (weight reduction)

Even if you manage to get it out, the smell will linger on for awhile

This is why you should always just give your drunk friends their keys back. Its not worth having throw up in your car.

Happened to me. It was me who threw up, out the window, at 65mph. Needless to say barf is very aerodynamic 'cuz it was everywhere. Mostly on the seat headrest, and on the backseat, behind me. And some on the headliner. I had barf all over the side of my car from the small back window to the spoiler. I used a steam cleaner on the seats. That did the job. I kept cleaning the areas over and over for the next month to be sure all of it was out. I used 409 Carpet Foam, and then Febreeze. The stench didn't last long. It was gone after a week.
I'm gonna pull over from now on.

Thankfully, this hasn't happened to me, but it has happened to a friend of mine...he took it to the local carwash, which has a detail shop. From what they said, they see this quite often, and they must have some super cleaning product, because when he came back to get his car later in the afternoon, it was perfect - no smell, nothing. They did charge him a lot, relatively speaking, but hell, can you blame them? Its bad enough cleaning your own puke, but to have to clean someone else's, thats nasty.

http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php...highlight=Vomit [ autopia.org] Puking is a definite indication of a good time. Its best to leave the SVT at home when having fun. Im sure youre pissed, but just let it go. It can be fixed and its just a car. Her party days will be over soon enough and you will be cleaning up kid puke in the family truckster instead. Now. You need brushes, towels, carpet and upholstery cleaners, spray bottle with water, bucket of warm water, wet-vac, vinyl cleaner, vinyl dressing, leather cleaner and conditioner. Start with the warm water and towels. Get everything as clean as you can, using moderately damp towels. Keep rinsing them in the bucket as you go. Be sure to get under the seats. Any puke left will really stink later. Pull all of your mats out and wash with a hose. Use a carpet cleaner and brush and rinse well. Hang em up to dry out. Next, clean the Alcantara. Any quality upholstery cleaner will do. A foaming cleaner like Tuff Stuff or Blue Coral will work best on this material. Apply and let foam up, then wipe with a towel. Foam again and then brush and wipe again. Do pretty much the same with the carpets. Use the spray bottle to dampen and wipe the upholstery and carpets, then wet-vac until dry as possible. Clean and dress the vinyl and clean and condition the leather. Drop a fan in the car to blow across the damp areas untill they are dry. When everything is dry, hit everything with Febreeze or Megs Oder Eliminator...or both. Done with the baby.

This entire thread is THE definitive argument for LEATHER SEATS! You can have the fastest, nicest Celi in the known universe, but the smell of old vomit is a total dealbreaker!!

Don't forget to buy one of those trees for you rear view mirror. That'll help once you get the seat back in. Just in case the smell lingers.

My daughter threw up all over the back half of my celica earlier this month.
I had access to a shampoo machine (Bissell) but it didnt do that great of a job. I ended up taking my car to a full-service car wash/detail shop and had them steam clean out. It ended up costing me $50 to have the back half of the car steamed cleaned, but it did an awesome job getting the seats and floor clean as well as getting 99% of the scent out. Since then the remaining smell is gone.
Just used some febreeze on the interior and let the air out for a day and the smell is totally gone and the seats look like new.
That's the advice I would give. I know it costs more but the money was well worth it. The smell was so bad I had to cover my face for the 10 minute drive to the car wash since it smelled so bad...
Best of luck... -Craig
