In your opinion, What makes the Celica a "CELICA" ???

...

My answer:
The exterior design and handling.

You just said it! But no more.. rolleyes

I used to have a '84 300 zx V6 3.0... I got it from the original owner in 2000 with only 120k miles. -running strong- That car was awsome... I put 100k in a little bit less that 4 years... time to upgrade my transportation... rolleyes

I felt in love with the celica... talking about shape... (actually the only one that I like & afford at the same time) then I bought it!
Next day when I drove it... ohboy... WTF is this? ... Then, kinda storaged the celica... I kept using the 300... hehe, I kept switching between the old school 300 and the celi for 6 months... then decided to sell one of the cars, obviously the . rolleyes But I'm still missing that 3.0 V6 engine... Well, I'm gonna put the blame on the '00 Celica AT -never got an AT before -in 18 years!- But what da heck! My celica is so sexy! besides, my racin' days are gone, I'm an old school...
I have learned some tricks with the AT... hehe!! grin

1. One of the best looking cars ever made.

2. One of the best handling cars ever made (quote from test driver at Car and Driver)

3. Interior room large enough to fit two mountain bikes inside. Not many small cars can do that.

4. Light weight engine capable of more than 400whp.

5. Very light curb weight.

6. Very good gas mileage.

7. Very reliable.

8. Soon to be wanted classic.

9. Girls love it and will often tell you so.

10. Good looking interior.

Some people will not agree with me, but I think one of the things that make a Celica a Celica is keeping the original engine.
When I first Rod Millens ultimate Celica, I thought "Yeah that's great, you spent a ton of money and have a big heavy engine now, too bad it's not really a 7th gen Celica anymore."

Buy a 7th gen Celi, trick it out and get 500hp out of the engine it came with and I'll be impressed.

Its different and unique like no other and we get major respect as celica owners, i know I do. And its not your average civic. How reverse in a GTS 6-speed is all the ways to right laughsilly The exterior, gives it that "looks" fast theme hehe thumbsup

hmmmm... lot of things i think...
the name celica
the history of the celica
the awesome design from the early 70 models to the 7th gen
toyota reliability
they all handle just good as hell and theyre pretty quick too
i think that celicas just have a certain mystique about them...

imo, its the improved version of the last 25 years or so of excellence. both performance and handling, but most of all, the looks. the celica has always been an eye catcher even back to the 70s versions. its also an affordable, great looking/performing car!

I'd say, like most everyone else, that it's the handling, looks, and reliability that make it the great car it is.

Its a cheap car thats a blast to drive, right out of the box. It has classic styling that will be remembered for years and wont get old or look dated. Its a true sports car because the back seats suck, and its feekin sexy. I'm not a fan of most body kits, and changing the interior a lot wrecks it for me too.. but the more you do to personalize your car, the more you love it.

someone should forward this stuff to Toyota, maybe they'd wake up and make a new model - with a 280hp 4 banger and standard limited slip dif...

headlights, looks fast, the edgy look, love the way it raises from the front to the back that that horizontal line that gets bigger by the door.
interior is very nice and sporty makes it looks nice. handles like a champ.

CONCLUSION: WHATEVER CAR THAT LOOKS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT YOU PAID FOR LOOKS NICE

history
old ones look more than 5 years newer than they are(mines an 86, and when people ask the year, i ask them what do you think, i've had responses from 90-95 and thier always suprised when i tell em it's an 86)
performance(t-vis system on 4th gen gts is kind of the same effect as lift on 7th gen)
relibality
the fact that once you drive one(good condition one at least)you fall in love with it
How fun they are to drive
the looks you get in them(even the older ones)

Good sports car lines, good performance, excellent handling, nice interior, Toyota reliability, and the legacy its carried since first introduced. Toyota is making a big mistake by dropping it. Can you imagine Ford dropping the Mustang?
