I have a manual transimission and I love it other then the fact that I live in Wisconsin and where I got my alarm installed wouldnt hook up remote start. It is getting to be really cold up here and remote starting would be so wonderful. My question is does anyone know how to hook it up. I am guessing that I need to ground or bypass a clutch saftey switch. I also never ever in the two years I have had this car parked it in gear I just always use the e-brake. I know this is what everyone is worried about but I will be very careful becasuse I dont want to crash my car. If anyone know how please let me know?
Thanks

you can, but groupbuy4celica said it will jump when you start it.

"remote start with a manual tranny.. makes the car jump when you hit the engine start switch, kinda makes it leap forward a few inches.. dont ask me why but it happens.. i know this from my many friends that had gotten engine starts on their cars.. other then that this alarm itself is a pretty awesome unit.. let me know if your interested!"

Yeah, the Compustar is what I got. It works great in my manual. All you need is a clutch bypass. The range can be over a mile if you're willing to shell out the money. I have the quarter mile one. It also comes with a paging unit.

Does it hurt the car if it jumps like that when using the remote start for manual trans?

So no one knows how to bypass the clutch. Looks like I am going to do some calling to find out how to do this. Thanks anyways!

The car will only jump if it is in gear when you remote start it. I installed it on mine and as long as you're in neutral it won't move at all.

Seeulater, If you want I can help you do it when I have off. I'm off on sunday and monday after x-mas. If Not I can walk you through it.

Really that would be awsome if you could help me. I dont work either of those days either! Yeah I know that you are not supposed to keep it in gear. I really wish I had it working it is like 7 degrees out. If you wanna meet up that would be great. I have the alarm installed already! If you have a cell number or something I could reach you at that would be great.
Thanks

remote start is not legal. you will get thrown in jail! haha. j/k...why would you think it is illegal to start your car? Thry run from anywhere from $80-400 plus install.

I have the remote start in my 6 speed. Its very illegal in VA to have it on a stick. But i have a friend that owns a stereo install shop so he was able to hook it up for me. The thing is that if you leave it in gear and start it it does jump foward. We found that out the hard way when my dumb husband left it in first and started it in a parking garage. The car jump forward and hit the retaining wall thumbsdown:
