hey people,

i'm debating on installing the TRD coilover myself or have the dealer do it. supposely TRDUSA site said that if a dealer installs it, then there will be a life time warranty on the shocks itself. if i do it myself then i save $300 bucks on labor but the downside is 1 year warranty only.

what should i do...? install it myself or have the dealer do it?

I have these myself waiting to be installed, and I plan to do it myself. How could a dealer prove that you didn't have another dealer install it?

wtf I personally like the lifetime warranty. Honestly, if you install them right you shouldnt ever have a need for the warranty.

think about it, you really dont know who is installing the parts at the dealer. i rather do it my self so i know everything is done right, and check it 3 times to make sure i got everything.
personally i think the guys that work at the dealer can care less if they did it right or wrong, i remember my dumb ass cousing keeps paying for everything he gets for his altima, he paid like $150 to get his intake install, and we i checked to see if everything was right, his filter was not even on. i was cracking up, his engine was sucking all the dirt and shit, then he got his header put on, and they forgot to do one bolt, keeps getting worse he paid to get some bulbs install, and his headlight got condensation all over it. i will never trust a shop, i would have to know the person who works there before i pay them. just my 02

thanks for your advices. dealer can't prove that i didn't have another dealer install if i do it right... that is true.. but how about the life time warranty if i have the dealer install it? how long does the shock last...100,000 miles? if the shock last pretty long then i can jus do it myself...

I had my TRD exhaust installed by the dealer b/c the labor was no big deal and plus i get the TRD warranty. But the thing is that I think the only people who will honor that warranty is the place where you had it installed. I'm not sure I could be wrong. But I also have the TRD springs that I installed and I'm using the factory shocks. Unless the car is new the shocks won't last long with the springs. You'll have to upgrade to some aftermarket shots after a few thousand miles. I've only had mine in for a year and half and the ride isn't as smooth as it was when i first got my car.

Ah...You have to prove that some dealer installed it for them to fix it for free if something goes wrong.
