My friend wants a GTS now, and he found one at a dealer for $12995 with 70k miles already. Do you think that is a lot of miles for a GTS? He drives a lot, maybe 30k miles per year, so how long do you think that car would last him?

It'll last forever if he takes care of it.

Of course, that depends on what condition the car is in right now.

look closley at engine for oil leaks dealers try to keep them clean. check oil dip stick if it is burnt at end/tip it may have engine trouble. after test driving (make sure to get engine warm you may have to test lift. rofl )smell transmission fluid if automatic if manual ask sales man to put it on lift if they have shop and have them show you fluid it should look like beer color(again for manual trans.) auto should be clear red if either smell burnt(like toast/bacon whatever is burnt deal/ask for some type of small warranty at lest fo 12995 of as is for 9-10995 thumbsupgood luck

Here's my 2 cents. Too high of a price for too high of miles. I'd take the same price for about 15-20k miles less. Go with a private party, dealers are fuckers. Be careful with private party though. Tell him to be patient, the right deal will show up sooner or later.

If he likes the car, he could try offering less. The seller is probably close to KBB value. A 2000, excellent condition, private party, Blue book is about $11,800. Dealer is about $13,500. So the asking price here is in between. I say, make an offer of about $10,000 - $11,000 if he likes the car, see what the dealer is willing to do. All the usual precautions apply; have it inspected by someone independent, and run a Carfax.
