hey wats up, i was just wondering, i always read forums about how to make our cars faster and shit by tuning the computer. my question is wat exactly can i do to a 2000 gts to tune it to make it faster...i have an injen short ram intake and a straight pipe exhuast. im stuck on wat step i can do next, i kno about the power fc, but its too expensive for me right now, is there way around it or does anyone kno where i can get one for cheap price.

also where can is the ristricter plate or govonor located at and can it be taken off to maxium top speed?

thanx for the help fellas, happy motoring

I think PFC and e-manage are your only options, both about 1k. And as far as I know, there is no restrictor plate or governor, there are guys on here that've hit close to 150...doubt you need to go over that

The e-Manage is 320 but you shouldnt get it unless you can get it tuned to your mods (320 + 250 tune and install). It will get around say a 6 whp gain when tuned to work with an intake and exhaust setup. It says 4 whp gain on a stock mr2 with our engine so I figure about 6 whp tuned right for your mods. People spend 550 for an exhaust that makes 5 whp so this isnt that bad.

the power fc is the best way to go. but it's not cheap. also unless your car came from over seas, you don't have any governor.

Yes you can still get it with the pretuned map but cars vary so much that I would think that you could lose power if you dont tune it to your car. It would be worth the extra money to get it tuned. By the way I was wrong, it is a 6 whp gain and 4 lb ft of tq with the stock mr2.

engine wise, all you can do is I/E. unless you wanna break into the internals. you could raise the compression, wait for the cam race to finish.

wouldn't raising the compression much over 11.5 stock GTS require the use of race fuel to prevent detonation? when you start getting up in 12 13 compression ratios your getting close to the detonation danger zone on pump 93 oct gas.

also do you have to get it tuned at a shop or can you use your laptop? all ya need is an air fuel/rpm figure and then you can tune it to whatever you need. there are kits that can record that info on your laptop too. tuning your intake should get rid of bogging right? I mean if the sensor is not sensing the correct inflow then it should be smiple enough to make the computer think it's getting more airflow right?(the e-manage is a piggy back so it acts on the maf right?)

and has anyone installed the E-manage themselves, just wondering how clear the instructions are and how difficult the actual wiring on it is.

ps just relized why you might want to get it done in a shop. A dyno would really help you fine tune it, beyond just getting it to work normally with your parts.

with a wideband o2 you can street tune the A/F ratios on the power fc. with the datalogit program you can tune the car yourself using a laptop and a dyno. dyno time typically runs $100 per hour. a good tune will take 4hrs minimum.

with something like the power fc you can monitor your knock levels while you tune. So tunning 12:1 or 12.5:1 compressin on 91 octane wont be a problem. You also have the benefit of being able to make a second map for teh track using 100 octane.

it basically comes down to how good you are at tuning wink

but PFC is the best right now.

Yeah you will want someone who knows what they are doing and has done the tuning before to do it. Make sure you can get that price though because some places might charge and arm and a nut.

to get the power fc tuned by a "professional" you'll pay about $175 per hour for an authorized apexi power tuner wink it'll be way more then $400 lol

the split second "black box" ccan only adjust the a/f ratios wink stafford is using that for his 2003 turbo kits
