I was thinking of making my own carbon fiber dash and was wondering if there was a way of doing it myself. Is it cheaper? Can anyone post some links to something related?

^^ was thinking the same thing.

basically carbon fiber weave starts at around $38 a yard for the 'cheap' stuff (basic weave) for a comparison..fiberglass starts at around $4 a yard. you'll also need some epoxy resin as well..loland some gloves to prevent from getting a LOT of splinters.

practice on some fiberglass weave first (not just fiberglass matt..get the weave). do this because it's a lot cheaper if you screw up (and if your just starting out you most likely will screw up)..after you get the fiberglass weave down..then try the carbon fiber weave.

also..practice on your a-pillar plastics first (the plastics that cover up the a-pillar--the ones that enclose the windshield). there a lot easier to remove and don't have the curves that the dash does. really you should just start on a piece of flat plywood, but the first car thing i would do was the a-pillars

btw: get "west systems" epoxy resin & hardeners...they're considerred the best for non-impregnated carbon fiber laying. you'll typically spend more on resin & hardener than the carbon fiber itself. it's not cheap..but still a lot cheaper than letting someone else do it.
