I have a 2004 Celica GTS and I am thinking about installing a short shifter. My understanding is that the TRD ss will work if I use the stock housing but I also read that it rubs the e-brake handle when trying to put in reverse. Is this true?

From what I read about the TWM ss, it is way too low and uncomfortable for a dailiy driver unless you change the shift knob to something that will make it higher and it is exceptionally stiff, even after it has been broken in. Is this accurate?

A lot of people seem to dislike the B&M ss, but I haven't heard anybody explain why? The B&M website says that it is only for 00-01 Celica's. I assume for the same reason as TRD, but does it rub the e-brake handle as well?

I have the difficult to put it in reverse problem that I've heard others complain about, but most people blame it on the ss. Will this get worse with a ss, or is it unrelated? When I have the problem, I have to put in in 1st and then reverse. It usually only happens after the car has sat for a while.

A number of people seem to have put the TRD ss into the 2003 gts by taking the ss out of the new housing and putting it into the stock (this solves the shift gate problem), so I know that techinically it will work but I've also heard people rumble about it rubbing the e-brake. My understanding is that it rubs because 00-02.5 shifters curve to the left and 02.5-05 shifters curve to the right. TWM makes 2 different shifters and since it doesn't come with the housing at all, I assume that the only difference is the way they curve. Wouldn't B&M have the same problem as the TRD (curving to the left)?

Go TWM. I kept the original shift knob and absolutely love the short throws. Using a taller knob defeats the purpose of using a shorter lever. If you can't handle a bit more effort your a girly-man.
