Little lost here but I got a paper from the toyota dealership about my car being a 2000 model and needing to replace the brakes or something along the lines of the brakes malfunctioning and going wrong. So they are now recalling my car. I have searched the forums but couldn't find nothing about it so here it is. Has anyone else with a 2000 model received a letter like this. If so give me some info. I'll see if I can scan the letter so some of you people can read it but i got to find it. Just wondering here...

theres been a thread of two about this already but its not the entire car thats being recalled. it's just a brake issue thats being recalled and it's probably not applicable to most cars.

i got my recall notice in the mail a few weeks ago..still havnt checked it out just yet though because my car has been laid up. i'll probably get it checked out within the next couple of weeks.

toyota is to do a VISUAL inspection of the part. if it looks fine and there is no corrosion, then the part will not be replaced. if there is corrosion, they will replace the part free of charge. thats it

There is a recall on them because they are supposedly too bright.

yea but if any thing needs to be replaced you will have to pay...showing the letter makes any replacement free of cost it says...you may get a letter never know

Mine only squeak when its wet or cold outside so maybe this could fix it...If anyone takes their celica in let us know what they did and if it fixed any problems you were having...

If you change the color of your High Beams.

And with the brake master cylinder deal. What is it exactly?? Will this fix the brakes clicking??

I think the clicking you hear is the calipers going through a normal process. In other words, you're supposed to hear that but only during the first 500 feet or so of driving the car.

Here is a link to the current recall results for the 2000 celica - http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfm

All they will do about the drl's is place a resistor in there to tone down the brightness. I personally wouldn't worry about that recall just the master cylinder one.

I've posted this other places but I'll say it again. I called Toyota 10/04 and was told there was no recall on my VIN. Last month I get the recall letter in the mail. I make an appt to have it checked out and it qualified. The next week everything was fixed.

FOR ANYONE NOT TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY, I really think you should. Chances are most of us won't have to have anything replaced, but some of us will. All the people who are not the first owners of your Celica please call this number (1-888-270-9371) and have them update your information. I strongly believe that was the ONLY reason I got the letter in the first place!! Some people say they use the current registration info but it's better to be safe than sorry! And have peace of mind that if any other recalls come out Toyota will have your current info on file to send you out the proper notices.

Good luck everyone thumbsup
