I have had carbon fiber exhausts on all the sport bikes I've owned past and present. Exhaust temps on my bikes are just as hot, if not hotter, than your celica exhaust.
It won't melt... although there's a better chance of damage if it scrapes across the ground than if you had a stainless steel/titanium exhaust

carbon fiber is also cooler, meaning temperatures, you can touch them even when hot, it dissapates the heat a hell of a lot better

The Carbon Fiber muffler won't melt for SURE... I have one installed, so far, it's great and not so heavy as the regular mufflers...

Sarge is right though. I've accidently touched my bike muffler on the c/f portion after a long ride. It was hot, but not hot enough to burn my skin. C/f mufflers would be great for your car as long as you don't bottom out.

i don't care what people say, carbon fiber gets hotter than anything else. just like my new fiberimages Carbon Fiber hood, i noticed it gets hotter than my stock, i mean really hot point where you can't even touch it. Well anyway it won't melt, but they do expand from the heat.just letting you know

so ya equating the heat of the exhaust to be the same as the hood?, there are different ways to lay the fiber in order to dissapate the heat better, and yes, yet again cars taking tips from motorcycles, carbon fiber does not hold on to the heat as much as steel, titanium, think about it, there are some ceramics that, after coming out of a 1200 deg furnace can be handled in less than 5 minutes by the bare hand
