Aight well my parents recently offered to buy me a new car. Immediately i said GTS...then thought about it and decided a 350Z. Now lately ive been looking at Supras...i love that car...like the looks much better than the Z but since they are all used...my question is how many miles is to used?? Ive never owened a used car before so wat should i expect if i was to get a used Supra (a turbo one)??

Depends on the year, if its 95+ anything more than 150,000 miles is probably too much.

i dunno i get pretty nervous about anything 100,000 or more. it really depends on how often the car was serviced, if it was raced or pushed pretty hard, jus overall how well it was taken care of.

I'm sure he is looking at an MKIV.
It depends on the condition, modification, & maintenance history.
If this is your first car, I don't suggest to get a highly modified one.
Especially if this is your first turbo car.
For stock (minimal mod, no boost controller) :
If you don't work on the car at all, 80k is still OK.
If you are willing to learn, 120k is still OK.
If you know how to work on it, milege almost doesn't matter.
Remember, low miles, few mods Supra goes for $$$$ and very rare.
Be ready to pay premium for that.
Be sure to check the vehicle maintenance history.

If you look, you can still find Supras with low miles. But they do get expensive. What's the limit on the price?

I think a new 350Z is going to give you more problems than a 100k mile Supra. Do the research regarding tire feathering and the transmission problems. That's what kept me away. spineyes

Also, get one as close to stock as possible. I'd say 80k miles without any engine mods would be just fine.

I use to have this question too...

But soon I learn that it's not about the mileage, it's about how well you maintain it throughout the car's life that leads to the mileage, and that is what matters.

Let's say a guy has a car that is 90K, but he took car of it and babied it.

Another guy has a car that is 70k, but then he never maintain it. This guy full throttle, barely changed oil, never warm up car, and so on...

So would you get the 100k car or 70k? I hope you get my idea. thumbsup

You've got a great car, why a new one. Just get a GTS and mod the hell out of it, you,ve already got a start, just put in your current intake, wheels, ect... I'd say do a GTS, it'll be fun to mod it

yeah i dunno if they're willing to dish out that sort of loot to buy you a new car...if it were me i might just ask if they could give you $$$ to mod your celica. you can do a lot with ~30k that you would have spent on a supra. I say mod the celi and have one of the sickest ones in the country thumbsup

Well today i when i was taking my TRD wing off i decided to keep my Celi thumbsup...I talked to my dad and told him that i wouldnt ask for a new car but i would ask for mods for the Celi. To start off i said i would like to get Coilovers, Clutch, and possibly a new bodykit. For x-mas i would be laying down some of my dough and he would help me out with a turbo kit for the GT thumbsup Z couldnt beat the Celi thumbsup

^ Decided GTS thumbsup...reason because i still like the Celica...and because all mods for the Z are expensive...i mean the exhaust i want is $1,900 thumbsdown...and one final reason is that im going to go study in Mexico...no Celica's overthere thumbsup
