Buy new clutch and flywheel and than get your internals such as Pistosn and Rods. Than buy Gauges EGT Boost and Oil Pressure. Buy a C2Gas turbo kit. Install everything and be on your happy way! thumbsup

and if i did this how much boost should i run? i sorta new to intense engine modification. i just want to get the most out of the turbo kit for the least amount of money with the ability to make it better later on.

get the turbo kit first then work around that, there is nothing extra you have to have to bolt the kit on as long as you stay at low psi until upgrading internals

Ok, judging by your posts, you probably don't know much about turbocharging, so honestly I would advise against just slapping one on. It's a little more complicated than that. Second of all, do you have a GT or a GTS? If you have a GTS, don't really consider the turbo. The compression is too high to be able to use it safely without upgrade most of the internals as well.

If have a GT, take into consideration the cost this is going to have. The turbo itself should cost around $3500. Professional installation is around $1000. To tune it properly, you will need a PFC ($800), and the tuning ($400ish). This is already $5700 racked up with just stock internals, which allows you to safely boost around 6-7 psi. By the time you start upgrading valve springs, rods, pistons, ect., things get quite expensive.

If you are starting out on mods, a turbo will not be your best option.

i know some gts celicas running perfectly fine on 6psi or even higher with no problems so if you want real power the turbo is a perfect option...

Well your not really right on everything. If you read his first post. "Money isn't an Issue." So Even if he has a GT or A GTS Boosting is AWSOME option! Cause if he is looking into buying Pistons and Rods than it doesnt matter if he has a Gt or GTS. Also the turbo kit will be about 3500 from C2Gas(Recommended) but that comes with the GReddy E-Manage which takes the place of the PFC. And if you have DBW you couldn't use PFC anyways. Im not gunna lie though. Boostin is expensive but when done right its amazing! Here is a list of what I would suggest.

To Run like 6psi (225whp) somwhere around there

C2-Kit ($3500)
EGT, Boost, Oil Pressure Gauges ($300 - $.00) Depending on Gauge Type
Clutch , Flywheel ($700)(Flywheel not needed in some cases but most like to rev quicker
Larger Injectors and Fuel Pump ($700)(Not needed but I'd recommend

(This is running safe and with no problems..

To run like 12psi+ (265whp)somwhere around there

All of Above+
Pistons($435)
Rods ($725)
(Valves and valve springs if wanted but arent need) ($500+ alittle)
^^(I would do them to save install costs.. Just get everything done at one time)
Boost Controller ($250)
Upgrade Transmission with Strongs Gears ($1,500)
3inch Exhuast + Downpipe (YAY for more POWER!)

Anyways your looking at around

If i missed anything lemme know.

Either way Boostin is AWSOME don't let anyone convince you not! Its not gunna be cheap and there is no cheap safe way to do this. Hope this helps

the only thing you NEED to run 6 psi other than the turbo kit, is a clutch, boost gauge and pyrometer.

N/A is another great option. But for the power I'm thinkin he is looking to hit a turbo is the best way. N\A though with Cams coming out recently is looking like a good option

Lucky can tell you guys more about N/A (Hell hes is the king of N/A)

sorry, i was a little drunk when i wrote the first one so i forgot to say - it is a GT - and i have many mechanics hat will do work fo beer ( i hang out with a lot of A & P's who i trust to work on my airplanes, therefore i will let them work on my car thumbsup ) all installs will be done by myself and friends. i am also thinking about getting the crower cam kit, but i am unsure which stage to get since i will probably be turboing the car eventually. i know everything i would like to do but i am unsure what i want to do first. thanks for your help guys.

STI's run at 14.(4 or 7) PSI stock, so upping that is not as easy as upping the boost on a WRX (7psi i believe). with a c2 kit, you won't need too much else to run it. if you don't go crazy racing and such, you will be able to get the kit, clutch, and gauges and run it safely. injectors are a good idea (c2 told me that GTS injectors would be good). a lighter flywheel isn't necessary, but if you've got the money, you should install that at the same time as the clutch.

if you have the money here's what I'd do... (btw don't hold your breathe for 10's. it has yet to be done or even close)

1) buy a 2nd motor (preferably the 2zz)
2) buy the c2gas tranny (you'll HAVE to have this if you're running any kind of decent power)
3) find a good shop to do all your head work(right now I recommend "industrial performance" in CA. they are workin on my head right now wink)
this should include cams, valve job, valve springs, and all the port work.
4) buy the mwr stroker kit. you'll want 8.8:1 compression. I'm pretty sure the package come pre-sleeved so you're fine there.
5) get a huge turbo. something like the GT35R should do
6) you'll want a 35 shot to help that sucka spool up faster even though it spools nicely, it could do better.
7) new clutch/flywheel
8) remove most of your interior
9) run some big a$$ slicks.

then you should have a chance at hitting some fast times thumbsup

if you run nitrous you're not N/A wink

the reason for the 2nd motor is so that your car runs while all the work is getting done. thumbsup

when everything is erady you simply slap it in and go. may take some time but it's going to be worth it in the end.

on the STI I used to want one of those but then reality hit and I didn't have enough money to get a new 30K car so I got a used GTS instead. cobbtuning.com tunes subarus and they have a great stage 2 package with an ecu upgrade and turbo back exhaust that should give your friend 350 or better HP for about 1500dollars.

as for you yeah since you have a GT you can have the luxury of upgrading your internals without losing much power since you don't have that much power to begin with. So new pistons rods valves upgrade the transmision internals and clutch then get the turbo kit and crank up the boost and get an LSD to help you with your launch to get that 11sec 1/4 mile. best time i've seen posted is like 13 and change on a turbo'd celica. but with an LSD and severe weight reduction carbon fiber hood fenders passenger seat and rear seats and spare tire removed, you might be able to get there and let a 100lb chick drive your car.(girls are way better race car drivers cause they weigh less every 100lbs is supposed to take .1 seconds off your 1/4 mile).

GTS on the other hand if you upgrade to low compression pistons it's going to suck until you get the turbo on since your HP will probably drop 20-40 ponys.

at 2700 ft elevation my teamate ran 13.6 on 8psi full interior and drag radials, stock internals and stock flywheel. his clutch was act I believe. he dynoed 251 whp. 91 octane. never ran when he hit 278 whp on 10 psi. converted that's the equivalent of 13.2 on 10 psi he coulda seen 12's. you'd have to be around 500 whp to see 11's on a full interior celica.

Yeah, to be honest, i dont think that should be a goal you're shooting for. Definately not 10s. First work on hitting 12s, even low 12s is gonna take a lot with a GT. You would need to be running a buttload of boost. Nevermind being an excellent driver to hit a low 12.
