Well, a few days ago I was in an accident with my celica in which I rear ended a guy. I remember seeing the brake cylinder tsb on here and am wondering somthing. If the cause of the crash were to be a faulty cylinder, could toyota potentially reimburse me and my insurance company for the damage? Im not just looking for an easy way out here, I honestly dont believe I would have hit him had somthing not been wrong. I dont want to take it to the dealer though because if it means them having to shell out cash, more than likely they will BS me and say it was done. Thoughts & suggestions?

This is a tough one. If you got a recall letter and didn't have it checked out before the accident they may some how try to pin it on you. I think I would talk to a lawyer to figure out the best course of action because no matter what, trying to file a suit against Toyota may be difficult. (I dunno I'm just guessin here)

If you haven't gotten a letter from Toyota I would double check the production date of your vehicle to make sure you fall into the timeframe. I think someone said in another thread that it had to be produced before 8/00. Call Toyota and give them your VIN# 1-888-270-9371. They'll check for you to see if there was a recall for your particular car. But I'm not sure a dealer will look at it without that letter, you could try though.

Here's the link to the website containing the current recall results for the 2000 celica - http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfm

And here's another link to what the letter looks like - https://celicahobby.com/ubbthrea...#Post1953446393

There have been quite a few posts about this already. Use the search feature and you should find them.

In any case, I'm glad you're ok and good luck thumbsup
