today i went to the store and i had half a tank left and after driving about 6 miles taht half a tank dropped to quarter of a tank w/ in a minute. i mean w/in a minute or so all the bars for the fuel gauge disappeared b/w the half mark and the quarter mark one by one. i dunno what's going on. plz help.

were you parked on a hill to start with?

Maybe your gas meter malfunctioned.

maybe it just read it wrong befor and the comp was recalibrating the amount of fuel you had left. do you know for sure that you had a half tank or did the display just say that?

fill her up and see what the gauge does then.

no i wasn't on a hill to start off with. i know that when i have a half a tank left i usually have driven about 205 miles and this time had only a quarter tank left and i had driven about 195 miles. i went to the store came out started my car hoping that it would be back to normal, but nope i still had only quarter of a tank left. wut do you guys think. thnx

If your still under warranty just have Toyota check it out.

right i was thinking about taking it to the dealer as i only have 16000 miles on it and i'm covered till 100k. but i was afraid that they r going to tell me that it's due to my intake or something. wut do you think. thnx for the hlp guys.

if the dealer is a dick they will tell you to buzz off because of your intake. you could always take your intake out if its a seriouse problem.

If you continue to pump fuel in after you have topped off your fuel tank on a regular basis it can damage the gauge over time. Perhaps this is the case here.

if you were parked on an incline it causes your meter to read differently. (more gas on the front or back and less on the opposite side) was that the case?

no i never pump more gas than i'm supposed to. i always let got after it clicks. also i wasn't parked on n e incline. i did refill my tank to a full tank and i had put in $18 worth of gas meaning my tank really did go down to a quarter. i checked for leaks and i didn't see any. the fuel line looks good too. soo i dunno y it's taking that much gas. hopefully i'm gonna take it to the dealer and have them figure it out. thnx
