Ok, so my cousin and I tried to put on my ViS Invader hood tonight. It went on very simply. However, when we went to close it for the first time, it wouldn't close all the way! There was still about an inch of gap space between the front of the hood and the top of the bumper. We messed with the latch a little bit. Thought it might be the tall pin that you have to manually release after pulling the handle in the cockpit. In conclusion, we think it might be the square latching ring attached to the hood. It seems larger than the factory one.

I'm looking for help from anyone who has had this problem. Am I suppose to just remove the entire latch assembly and go with hoodpins, or what? Any help is appreciated!

I have heard of this problem before so your not the only one with a aftermarket hood who this has happened to. Some people were saying to sand the latch down? If memory serves me I think Isaac can help you on this one.

It's authentic. I remember seeing a post on here a little while back about fitment issues. Just couldn't find it. It's like right there, almost closed, but it just has a little left.

I had the same,
What I did was move the mechanism that holds the latch down.
I drill a few more holes and it fits like charm.

You can also take of the latch and use only hoodpins..

Hey guys...interesting reading...

now you got me wondering...I'm getting a VIS carbon fiber hood from Bernard and it has hood pins...will I be able to pop the hood from the inside of the car or do I have to use the hood pins now and lose the hood pop thingy?

If you have functional hood pins installed, you have 2 choices:

You can use the latch mechanism AND the hood pins. Then you have to remember to take the hood pins off before popping the hood from inside the car.

OR

You can remove the whole latch mechanism, and just use the hood pins.

Remember: If you ONLY use hood pins, everyone that walks by can open your hood and do whatever they feel like to your engine. Including stealing your Carbon Fiber hood.

EEK thanks for the info! I think I'll leave it on with latch and tape a warning sign to my trunk popper in the car so I don't forget! LOL My luck, I would. What would happen if I did?

I'm gonna say nothing cause we don't have a trunk popper, hahahah. J/K

But yeah, again... i don't think anything really, it just wouldn't pop. I wouldn't want to do it to test though, just in case. thumbsup

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. However, there is very little room for new holes to be drilled. How much did you need to lower your latch?

I already have the Sparco hoodpins, and I don't want to order the locking hoodpins if I don't have to, even though those would be pretty sweet. Haven't even opened the pins yet. And I don't want to go Sparco pins only, for the reason I don't trust anyone around my car. I could come out and my engine would be all f-ed up.
