Hello!
I have one Celica GT, i want change my airbox..
what is the best solution?
Cold Air Intake or Short Air Intake?

I've heard from pro's that they both give good performance, just that CAI will give you better performance on hot days while SAI/SRI won't. But on any regular day, they're about the same.

yea billion threads aobut it but here i'll sum up some pros and cons

SRI:
Pros= looks better in your engine bay IMO
Sounds awsome because there isnt mucvh to it to block sound
Get decent gain if you ahve a heatshielf with it (can get injen one fomr this ite i belive
Cons= Not as great proformance increase as CAI
Can suck in more hot air form engine bay that which coudl decrease hp if no heatshield

CAI
Pros= Much better proformance then SRI
Better sounding then stock
Guys who want more power will like you better wink
Cons= possiblity of hydrolock (submerging intake in water making it go in engine, very bad thing, but need to go into a lake to have it happen wink )
Not as nice looking in the engine bay IMO


So final verdict, if you want looks and sound get SRI. If you want proformance and still better soudn then stock get CAI

AEM does not make an SRI for the Celica.

You have a choice of Injen, RMM, Blitz, or K&N for an SRI thumbsup

Get the CAI, you won't hydrolock your car unless it is in like 1 foot of water where the filter is completely submerged in the water. Like the other person said, you have to be in a lake for it to happen. And you shoudn't be driving your celica in a lake. A little mist or drops of water here and there won't hydrolock your car. And if you want to be SAFE, then by an AEM bypass vavle to stop the water. Its only like 40-60 dollars. CAI is always better than SRI looks and performance IMO. My .02 cents.

somebody correct me if im wrong but doesnt the bypass valve basically negate the extra gains over an SRI...thats what i heard so dude your in italy with the rain (im coming this summer for my 1st time smile) so just go SRI with a heatsheild thumbsup

The aem by pass valve does not work very well with cold air intakes on celica's because the pipe is not long enough..

I hyrdolocked my car with a CAI but yeah I was in about a foot of water. I didnt know it was a foot deep untill the front end went down and no I didnt drive in it on pourpose. Id rather have more go then show. so get a cai and dont drive in puddles

why not get both a SRI and CAI?


TPR Intake! - Injens high end with AEM's low end and NO BOGGING!
TPR EXHAUST! - Exhaust made 10.5 whp peak and 32 whp at 6300 on my car!!!

If you get the Injen don't waste time on the heat shield cause it don't fit right, you'll have to modify it just to get the hood to not close on it.
