i am low on cash, so i dont want to do a whole exhaust overhual...if i just bought a tanabe or N1 muffler (like $40), would it make that big of a difference? i know the sound would change, but that's mainly what im going for.

new question...there is a muffler shop in town that i have had work done with before...if i bought a muffler, wouldn't it be cheaper for them to just make all the new pipe and stuff for it than to buy it all pre-made? if so, how much of it would they have to replace?

it would probably be cheaper, but that doesnt mean its more effective.

most shops crush bend their pipes instead of mandrel bend. (mandrel bend is smoother and allows air to flow more freely up to 35% more over a crush bent pipe).

that said, if you can find a mandrel bend shop to do the work with about 2.3 - 2.4" piping then you'd be set. it would probably come out to be almost as expensive as just an aftermarket exhaust though $around $400) and maybe even more expensive depending on how much they charge for labor.
