ok, i got my new amp. here it is... Power Acoustik TS980-2 [crutchfield.com]
specs: 280x2 or 560x1, this amp has the plasma sphere, where the lightning and stuff pulses to the beat.. pretty cool.

here is the amp i'm gonna use on my door speakers... Sony 2165GTX [xmsystems.com]

now, here's my choice...

i could get two of these 10" Kicker Comp VR subs (click for picture [akamaipix.crutchfield.com])
power handling: 300 rms apiece, would be getting 280 apiece, and match speaker amp perfectly.

or...

get one Kicker Solo-Baric L7 (click for picture [akamaipix.crutchfield.com])
power handling: 750 rms, would be getting 560 and match the power acoustik amp perfectly, especially w/ the plasma sphere.

i know the solos are incredible, i still have a 15" solo-baric L5 i'm trying to sell, and the L7 would be even better since it's got the aluminum cone is a newer model. the Comp VRs are supposed to be more accurate, just not quite as loud. But then again, the two 10s might be as loud as one l7 solo. so which do i go with? plz help me out.

I'd say that you should get the one L7, I imagine you'd be more pleased with it

hmm...im not sure what you would consider loud enough for you, but all i can say is look around and see if you got anyone around close to that setup so you can compare smile

well i went to a local shop and compared two VR 10s to one Solo 12 and the Solo was hands down louder, deeper, and yes, even more accurate. so i'm getting one!

Go with the L7. I have the Kicker L7 12" and it kicks as loud as a 15 and as tight as a 8. And you can make a small enclosure to save space. I only have 450watts going to it and it sounds better(quality wise)than the 2 12"Fosgate HX2s that I replaced with the L7.

no i had one from 2 years ago. Not the newest model it is the one with the silver cone though. I had it in a 90 300zx and it is going into the celica this weekend. It will just be a basic setup, no custom enclosure. But i will still try to get picks when I finish.

Ive dealt with both compVRs and L5s. The L5s are noticably better than the VRs so Id say if you were unsatisfied with the L5s to step it up to the L7. If worse comes to worse you can always by another one later. Eitherway I wouldnt get the VRs they are great for the money but it would be a big downgrade from an L5 setup.
