sup yall i got myself a Nitrous express wet kit an im thinkin bout runnin 75 shot, anyone done it before? and also you think my gts can handle it?

Just remember that the more NOS you use the shorter time your car will survive. I think that NOS should only be used by pro import racers and not people who street race and have seen F&F too many times. Nothing good can come from it

if you do decide to use it. only use the 35 shot and at the most the 50. using the 75 will more then likely make your engine die quick.

75 is pushing it a bit, my friend put nos in his car and he blew out his spark plugs. if you want nos get a 35 shot to play it safe. thumbsup

75 shot is a little much...its risky. Go direct port, and you can run the 50 very safely, maybe even push a 75 shot here and there.

GjGts, good choice, the nitrous express kits are really great. The maximum recommended amount of N2O boost on a GTS with stock internals is a 50 shot, I would highly recommend not exceeding that amount. Other people have had engine failure from running a 75 shot due to connecting rod failure.

As long as you don't exceed the safe amount nitrous for your car (a 50 shot for a GTS), have good kit that is properly installed, and do some simple maintenance, nitrous oxide is 100 times better for your engine than a bolt on turbo or super charger. With bolt on supercharging, the engine is under a ton of additional strain 100% of the time that the engine is running. With N2O, the car is under additional strain for only a few seconds at a time. All engine damage that occurs from using nitrous is the result of the car owner, not of the nitrous itself. Usually this is either because the person is pushing the safe HP increase too much, or because they were too cheap to buy all the necessary equipment to monitor their nitrous and protect their engine.

Did you get a window switch or gen x upgrade in addition to your nitrous kit? I would definitely 100% recommend getting a window switch if you didn't for engine safty reasons. If you didn't get the gen x upgrade, I would 100% recommend getting a gauge to monitor bottle pressure for engine safety reasons. If you hit the nitrous when the bottle pressure is too high, or bounce off the rev limiter without a window switch, INSTANT ENGINE FAILURE could result.

When you first set the kit up, jet it for a 35 shot. You should always start out small just in case something isn't working correctly with your installation. This way, since you are injecting a relatively small amount of N2O into your engine you will cause little or no damage if something doesn't function properly with your kit. After you get the 35 shot running well, you should re-jet the kit for the 50 shot.

Also, since you are now going to be using nitrous, spark plugs have suddenly become a very important part of your life. Do not use your N2O with the stock spark plugs, from now on you need to use a spark plug that is at least 1 degree colder than the stock spark plug. You want a colder plug for safety reasons in order to help eliminate pre-ignition, but if you go too cold with the spark plug you may experience blow out of the spark. I run plugs that are 2 degrees colder in my car and have never experienced blow out, so I would recommend that you use the same.

Inspect your spark plugs EVERY OIL CHANGE, maybe even more frequently if you use the nitrous a lot. Change the spark plugs if they look like they are getting worn. I personally replace my spark plugs every oil change regardless of wear, better safe than sorry I always say.

Follow these simple steps and you will enjoy a very long life from your engine. Have fun. smile

I believe the smallest jets for direct ports are for 20 shots. 20 shots x 4 cylinders is 80 shot.

Nitrous oxide, supercharging and turbo charging is all a matter of preference. Each have their pros and cons. Remember, you can only use NX while going in straight lines. rolleyes
