better get a craftsman screw out if it's a screw, or a good rachet set for a bolt.

There's a couple things you can do depending on the size and location of the screw...is there any way you can take a picture of it?

Sorry bro, i dont have my digi cam at this time but ill try to be specific as possible. Using the pos gator grip, it made the outside surface of the bolt kinda round. The original shape is octagonal. Imagine yourself trying to unscrew it, but unfortunately it didnt grip it that hard and pretty much rub off the corners into a circular shape.

oh, so it's a bolt? not a screw? When you said "octagonal", I thought you meant like a hex-head screw.

OK, do you have a drill that's reversible? If the bolt head is big and flat enough, you could drill right through, drive in an easy-out bit and screw it right out. Or just use something obviously better than a Gator Grip to grip and twist out. Vise-Grips makes several gripping tools to give you a better idea of what to use.

Lemme know if you have more questions.

Hmm..thanks for ur sugguestion about the "bolt." This was a quick thread i made, not dinking of what i was saying. The gator grip is freken 20 bucks and it supposedly replace any type of socket size.

I just thought of a better alternative. I'll just use a chisel to straighten out the ends back to its original shape, then take a wrench to take that POS out, then hammer the hell out of it just for pleasure, and then get a brand new bolt. =]

product <----> cost

chisel ----> home tool/free
new bolt ---> 50 cents
hammering the sh*T out of the bolt ---> PRICELESS!!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!!!!!!!!

The smartest answer yet! Its not a very technical problem. You stripped the head of the bolt so you can't get it off. get some vice grips, tighten the fucker down and slowly take it off and for gods sake don't put the same bolt back in. Go get another one of equal size.
