I was just wondering if anyone has a celica where the steering wheel is pretty shaky at speeds of 60+. I have 17's with 205/40/17 tires on them. i also have eibach springs. I got an alignment and camber as well... can anyone tell me if its normal or what and give me some advice.

THANKS

Steering wheel shakes at high speeds? Get a 4 wheel computerized balance and an alignment.

Get a good shop to rebalance your wheels and see if they can do a alloy 2 balance and a dynamic balance that way they will be balancing the front of the wheel and the back of the wheel to give a true balance also make sure if you have custom wheels that you use hub rings with a lugnut that has a buldge seat or if you use tuner lugnuts you will def need the hub rings. The new toyotas need hub rings for the best ride and if your not using them get them and you will have a better ride thumbsup

Lesson one.
If you have a bent rim it will shake at all speeds not just 1 speed. When a good shop (not a chain store) does a wheel balance they will balance the front of a wheel then the back of a wheel to truely balance the wheel. what kind of tires do you have because when you buy a cheaper tire sometimes they are not the most round of tires and when you are dealing with a low profile any imperfections are big ones. When you have them rebalance your tires see if they will let you watch the wheels spin on the machine at full spin then look at the top of the tire as it spins to see if the tire moves up and down also look to see if the rim moves up and down. If the tire has a lot of movement up and down but the wheel runs good ask them to index your tires (this means they let the air out of your tires and break the seat off the tire then rotate the tire 180% when its still on the wheel(every wheel aond tire will have a high spot and a low spot the idea is to get them away from eachother as far as poss aka 180% then reair the tire and spin it again. Most likely if you dont have hub ring this is your main problem because harmonic balance occurs at 60-70 mph and when you put custom wheels on your car they will have a center boar cut bigger than your car has and all toyotas are now hub centric. Hub centric ring will fill the gap from the centerbore of your wheels and fit it tightly on to your center hub also make sure you have the right lug nuts because if you have the wrong lugs the wheel wont seat right and can also cause a vibe prob. Not all shops will know all of this but mine does because we invested over 15k in the right equipment and really know what were doing. Look at my wheels and they ride like glass smmooooth baby. if you have any other questions on this let me know and I will help all I can. thumbsup

When you take your wheel off it slips on the hub of yor brake rotor and when you put your wheel on it slides into the centerbore of your wheel, also I forgot to tell you where to get'em at call the place where you got your wheels if they dont have them call someone who sells the same wheel usaly most mail order companies of a good wheel shop.

same thing happen to my car, put 17 rims and tire size is 215/40/17. i was so happy but when i drove it, it shaking as hell. then i went to some shop and they did a wheel balance, it still shake then i went back i said do a high speed balance, then it was all good. sometime it's the rims. where di you bought the rims anyway?? did you bought it with the tires on it?? well just go to a really good service center and tell to do a high speed balance.

get your wheels/tires balanced if they haven't been already.
