That sucks but you should have installed the gauges yourself. They're easy

the only way something would be sparking, is if they have the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE connectors linked backwards... or linked together.
how the heck is your installer trying to install these things, because I've only heard of this happening one time before, and then the person posted that he had his wires crossed by accident.
I need more details, to know what you are talking about...

BTW - i need more detail to know what you are talking about when you say "sparking"... like where is your shop saying that the spark is coming from... have you actualy seen it yourself? are they doing the install right now and they just called you about it? or have they aready done the install and things are working now? or have they stoped the install and puut everything back together and gave you the parts back... in this case, where did the tell you the spark came from? got a digital camera that you can take a photo of that location?

as you saw my finaly reply in the post that you linked - of me having to send that person to collections for $65 because they never followed through in their end of the return proccess...
if you are looking for a replacement set, go ahead and put everything back into the box in perfect condition, in origonal box, and ship the entire contents back to the return address that is on the shipping box... and Ill take care of getting you a replacement set.
if the gauges look as though they have been damaged due to incorrect installation, any type of alterations or if the wires look as though they have been tugged or spiced into - then this would mean that the damage was not caused during the manufacture, but actualy caused by the end-user/installer.

the shop probably messed them up... AC has good quality and I doubt it was the gauges.
