We want you to be informed of a Government investigation into the legality of ALL after market HID conversion kits. NHTSA (www.nhtsa.gov [nhtsa.gov]) is asking Importers, Suppliers and Manufacturers (CATZ is a Manufacturer and Supplier) to help them determine if the kits meet all kinds of regulations, standards, codes etc. and we are helping in this phase of the investigation.

Effective Aug 15 manufacturers will not be allowed to supply them to vendors and vendors will not risk supplying them if there is $5000 liability attached to it. Anyone looking to get HIDs down the road should seriously consider acquiring them before the deadline.

also there is a $1000 fine for havinf aftermarket hid kit installed in your car. So i would be a good idea to put HID in you 1972 bronco cause they're gonna notice, but i think you can get away with it if you have a late model car, but i still would suggest it.

the best thing to do is to get the CATZ ZETA [fet-usa.com] System i sell it for $300 for the 7th gen celicas
let me know if your interested

As they should be.

Those things are too bright, and distracting to the eyes.

Just another "hey, look at me, I'm a rich dickhole!" thing for your "I'm unhappy with my life, so I'll buy a Fancy SUV" car.

This topic has been covered before (click here)

Read carefully. It does not say all HID will be illegal.

because they are like 10x more bright than standard lights, and they cause glare and blinding when other people drive on the road.

If you put HIDs in a car with normal headlights (non-projection), bright light will be spread in all directions in front of the vehicle including the area of mirrors of the vehicle in front. I think that is where the problem lies because it is extremely bright in that case. I think they should be used with projection headlights because the field of light projected is not very tall and for the most part is projected on the road and not at other driver's eye height.

Satoshi - In the USA, DOT regulations require that a certain percentage of the headlights output must shine above the horizon, which means that a certain percentage of the light is required to shine directly into the eyes of other drivers.

The reason that this is required is because the USA is too cheap to pay the energy cost of having all road signes illuminated at night, like they are in Europe, Japan, ect. so they passed a law that requires all automobile manufactures to make the cars headlights shine on them. When you retro-fit a DOT approved US spec headlight with an HID system, you are shining a ton of super bright light into every ones eyes.

I know I'm not cool for thinking this, but the new law is good IMO. It doesn't effect the sale of cars that come equipped with HID lights, because they only focuse the required amount of light above the horizon and the rest is focused on the road. This only affects retro fitting non-HID headlights with HID bulbs, which results in blinding every one else on the road.
