what's the difference between having entire exhaust system and having just the muffler tip changed?

i don't have enough money to buy the entire exhaust so i'm thinking about buying a muffler tip off of ebay for like 50 bucks. Would you recommend it? anyone has that? how does it perform, if at all? the ad states that it'll give 10hp+. It is true?

one more question.

i just bought a veilside bodykit. How hard is it to install them myself(include painting job)? Should i just have the shop do it for me? how much would it be(approximately)? how much is it to install exhaust?

thanks a lot man.. i'm new here.

I can only answer the first question.

Muffler tip is just for looks. It should not add any HP. In order to gain HP you need to increase the size of the piping. Which is what a full exhaust sytem will do.

First i would save a buy a full exhaust. Like said above a universal muffler will do nothing but looks. Next, get your kit installed by a pro. It cost more but trust me its worth it. If you do it yourself (and this goes for everybody) it is going to turn out bad and you might even mess up your kit. Its better to let a pro do it. It will set you back about 600 to 1000 bucks for install and paint.

wise words! definitely get the kit professionally installed! and go for the entire exhaust system if you can. alternatively you may only want the visual and sound effects so possibly if this is wat you wanbt, a muffler will do.

and good choice with veilside! thumbsup

yea im sorry i didnt even read the title to it here i'll explain everything now

a plain stainless steel tip that you can get it pepboys can cost between $5 and $30

if your talking about a universal muffler, that will cost around $100 but your going to have to do custom stuff to make it fit, i think street prototype did this

now if you want a full exhaust system it will cost you around $500 for a good one, and installation should be no more than $30 because its VERY simple
