have you cleaned ur injectors it sounds like it might be the fact that not enough fuel is getting to the engine...when i start up my car the next mourning it feel like it is going to die when i try to take off i just keep the clucth in and give it more gas... i could be flooring it and it would still take off real slugish i have an 00 celica gt stick

your torque converter could be worn out to the point that it is not engaging completely. its the same problem as an old clutch on a manual. the dealer can tell you if it is functioning correctly or if it needs to be replaced.

^^^YEP agreed! Sounds like the torque converter. Unless you dont have ANY tranny fluid in t then that would do it too.

Torque converters have absolutely nothing to do with a car stalling all they do is make the car move she either has a fuel delivery problem or an ignition problem.

buy a bottle of gum out or comparable fuel injector cleaner. I had a bogging problem, $4 later it was gone.

Worth a try for $4 thumbsup

Does anyone's RPMs bounce a little bit when they are stopped and in neutral? When I pull up to a stop light it goes back and forth from 600-1300 a few times before it settles around 800-900. confused

Watch your temp gauge if it is over heating due to a burnt out thermostat that could cause you to stall when at idle because you don't have air flowing in to help make up for the thermo.

my car has has had this problem since i bought it brand new, and stock

Toyota has no clue what it is, and they have run all kinds of tests on it as well

when it stalls it never thows a CEL, so i was wondering if any other celica owner has had the same problem with their celica, or is having the problem as we speak, if so please post up and tell me what your celica is doing, i know mine shakes really bad, the rpm goes up and down and then finally dies if i dont step on the gas or switch to N and rev the engine

let me know asap
your feed back is really important

I have been having problems with my car. At first it was just like studdering while accelarting but now the engine stalls when you dont give gas. After going to 3 mechanics and having my car at a shop for 3 days, i found out that it was my MAFS. But no scans wouldn't find it, and we even did a test on the sensor itself and everything seemed fined, but after i replaced it everything was fine.
I hope this helps!!!!

Actually, I have had a problem only once...I don't know if it similar to what your having now but I came to a stop sign and was completely stopped, and when I took my foot off the brake and let it roll, it started to almost stall and felt like someone was pressing the brake fast and doing it several times in a row. But as soon as I gave it gas it stopped. That happened when I first got my car and hasn't happened since.

I have had this problem exactly...the ECU and MAF and another chip all burned out. It wasn't supplying the engine with enough oxygen to keep the combustion going therefore they had to replace the chips. Tell them to call Charlesglen Toyota in Calgary at 1-403-241-0888 and ask them about a Celica they had in the shop for roughly 2 weeks in summer 2003 with ECU problems and they'll know. My Celica is a 2003 Spec Blue, my dealership knows me exactly because they've never seen this happen before.

Another thing, if you decide to lemon law your vehicle, let me know plz, thx!

ok first we need to start about the rpm going up and down, shaking then finally stalling. sounds to me either a vacuum leak, which could cause a tach. to go up and down and if its a big enough leak it would cause stalling. let your car sit on idle while listening on your engine if you hear a hissing noise it is most likely a vacuum leak, pinpoint the vacuum leak(hose, throttle body gasket or intake gasket) and repair. 2nd it is also possible that it is your idle air control valve which controls sends a signal to your ecm when coming to idle and your ecm adjust air, fuel, timing to keep ur engine running on idle, in this case you would need some kind of a computer scanner to monitor IAC function. sorry but iac on 7th gen celis cannot be cleaned. hope this would help. grin
