I was told at my local garage that if I put the Injen CAI on my car even with the shield on it, that it would cause my engine water flooding problems since the intake is in the wheelwell. I live in an area that has all for seasons and this is a daily driver car. Does anyone with any brand of CAI have this problem? Any way around it? Should I even think of a CAI on my daily driver 2002 Celica GTS?

I have never lived in St. Louis, so i don't know what the weather is like. But, if your filter is submerged in water, then, yes, no shield would help you prevent hydro-lock.

I have driven through pooring rain here So. Cal, and I have had no problem with my Injen CAI.

If water is high enough to submerge the filter when it rains in St. Louis, then don't take the chance.

I don't think he or I were worried about total submersion of the CAI smile I believe they were under the impression that wet roads or snow could fly up and cake the filter.

so you're saying with a CAI, you can drive through the pooring rain, w/o a splash guard and be 100% ok? Or was it with a splash guard?
