Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to post this. I recently emailed toyota asking them if they were in fact going to discontinue the celica. I got a reply back but it could be taken both ways...Below is the email, how would you guys take it?

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

We appreciate your interest in the Celica.

Toyota has not announced any plans to discontinue the Celica. Toyota normally does not release any information on future models until very close to the launch date of a model.

If we can be of further assistance, please feel free contact us via email or by calling 800-331-4331. We are available from 6 AM to 6 PM, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.

Hello, I have been thinking about purchasing a Celica, but I have heard many rumors that the Celica will be discontinued in North America in 2005. I was just wondering if this is true? I really did want a celica due to it's looks (best looking car under $40,000) and handling. Thanks for your time, Brandon

who knows..you stated discontinued which isn't the correct term...you should have said you heard rumors about it not being imported. Discontinued means it's not made anymore, which it's still being made.

Also don't expect them to tell you the full truth because it can hurt their sales. If a car is no longer imported here...repair costs might go up as support for it might eventually smooth away. Also, nothing is ever finalized until an anouncement. I am sure Toyota wouldn't like contradict themselves if in case they decide they will sell in the US market. Perhaps they are waiting to see what competitors are doing? Can't always trust what you read (Motor Trend)

^^repair costs would stay the same because Toyota knows people still have the celica here and everything is normal, just not sold...

but I am with you on the Motor Trend thing because how could a magazine find out before someone who is associated with Toyota?

Im with you on that issue about the mag. knowing first, My cousin is very good friends with a local Toyota dealer, and they havent heard one thing about them discontinuing them. I guess I will just wait and see...I just really wanted a Celica and wanted to have a lil more money till I buy one. I like the 350z...for its performance but I still say Celica owns it on looks.

Everyone on E-celica should take five minutes and write a letter to toyota, that way maybe we will get to them by letting them know that we want the celica to stay, but a little bit of power wouldn't hurt, they're giving the corolla power so why not the celica.

I don't think that the 2500 active members here is going to change the mind of a major company.

I emailed Toyota also few days ago also, question was a little different

My message:
... I have heard that Toyota U.S.A is thinking about discontiuing Celica for few reasons. To make things worst, Motor Trend has written an article in their latest issue about the Toyota Celica's discontinuation in the U.S. So I decided to ask Toyota U.S.A. itself to clear up the rumors in my head. Are the rumors are any true in any way?
Thank You

I suppose even if 2500 members here did send an e-mail to Toyota, they would probably give the same response, which basically answered nothing. They keep saying stuff like they will know close to the release of the new model, other than that they have no idea. It seems as if the Celica is being neglected by Toyota. I am starting to believe that the Celica might not be imported anymore, and that the dirty looking Xc concept I posted earlier will be the lousy replacement for the celi rolleyes Oh well, only time will tell spineyes

i was specific enough to provide the rumor and its source and they didnt really give me a celica answer. probably the next response will be something like:
Thanks for your interest, as you know Toyota makes cars.
Once again, thanks for ur interest.

do you think these were automatic replies or do you think someone really typed it? i think these are auto replies, when they get an email with a question, they search in the faq or contact answers and select a response and send u. they dont seem to have any information about their cars especially celica, but they have all concepts for their stupid scions 5 years before its release!

I agree they did seem automated, It's surprising that they would have a real person actually answering emails like this, they kept repeating the same thing over, all of the responses were just a huge load of bs bs bs bs bs

I don't think there will be a 2005. But I hope there is. Here is something to consider...

Until 2000, every 4 years (to the best of my knowledge) Toyota offered a new Celica model. Well, they got lazy (I guess on the SUV trend) and extended the 1994 model to the year 1999, which is 5 years. Maybe they're just slacking again.

But based upon all the posts I've been reading on these forums, I'd say the Celica's days are numbered. It's not so bad. Just look at a 1994 Supra. It's almost the same price as it was brand new 9, almost 10 years ago! I don't think the Celica will follow the EXACT same suit, but with the new Lotus coming here, who knows what the used Celica market will be in the next 2 years.

Under 70,000 miles, I doubt you'll find one under 18 grand. I may be wrong. I havn't looked at em for months now. I thought about getting one, and keeping the Celica. To insure BOTH cars, it would cost me $1000 each month, with minimal full coverage. I'd be paying around $500-$600 dollars for both cars, which I can swing, but not a grand for insurance!!! Sheesh!!

i dont really care if they keep a cars model over 4 years as long as their coming up with a newer one. in a way the 1994-1999 change felt great after a long period of time with a huge change. so im expecting them to come up with some crazy look for 05 or 06, whenever as long as they dont discontinue it. usually japanese cars, especially toyota changes looks every 4 years if im correct (camry). but it could be celica every 5 yrs. 94-99(if im correct), 00-04. just hoping toyota will do the right thing and not discontinue, if they do im burning all the toyota around my town angry
