personally i havnt driven in one. dont really want to cause i don't really like the styling very much. but a brother of a good friend of mine works at a mazda dealership so they are always riding around in them due to the sales blitzing and sorts. says he loves them and wouldnt drive anything else if he had the money. good pickup, good handling, and he says he loves the styling also.
lol still doesnt make me want one over some of the other cars in the class, but you really can't go wrong with it. it is an eyecatcher and the power is more than adequate.
I got a personal invitation to test drive an RX-8 at the Alhambra Mazda dealership. Still trying to fit it into my busy schedule, with work, skool, and a business I'm starting. Ugh. I wish I had more time. I'll definitely let you know how it goes, I got 'till the end of the month to go.
good or bad? does it also last as long as our Celicas?
quality? you will have to becareful of the fragile rotery engine they make...
IMO...Mazda still make crappy engine...
Ford owns Mazda...right?
if it is true...then MAZDA suck!!!
ford also owns aston martin, jaguar. and land rover...those definately do not suck.
but why am i saying that? i don't like mazda either.
Ehh the old FD's don't suck. RX8 wasn't ment to be a replacement for the older and better FD's. Honestly it looks like ford doesn't want to let mazda build a replacement for the old RX7 so your right in a way I guess. Mazda does suck.

Actually rotaries can outlast a normal cylinder/valve engine as they don't have as many moving parts as a regular engine. As with any performance engine, they have to be well maintained, just like the Lambos and Ferraris out there. There are compromises you must make when it comes to sports cars, you want power or better mileage? Reliability or performance? Amenities or weight reduction? Personally once I pay off my celica, I would trade it in for an FD or RX-8.
And plus, what's the first (and might be the only one...I have to double-check) Japanese car company to win a 24HRS Le Mans race? M-A-Z-D-A. Talk about performance and reliability.

Quite true. The only Rotary engines that ever had problems really was the FD. And those only because of the TT which really killed the lifetime of an engine. The older RX7's for example were very reliable. I'm the RX8 will be quite reliable.

I meant PISTON/VALVE engine, but you all know what I was talking about.
it sux to hear that the handling is not as great as the celiacs, cz i thought it is smaller and should handle as good as a miata. p.s. check the date this post was made if you havent noticed
yeah you'd think the RWD stock RX-8 "sports car" would at least handle as good as the Celica. hmmm...does this have any relevance to a recent thread...I'm trying to remember... Anyone else drive the RX-8 from last year?
I test drove one and it was pretty fun. The interior was a hell of a lot nicer then the celica's but the power just wasnt there for price tag like it has

It definitely weighs more than a Celica (RX-8 is about 3000lb). So you might expect handling to be not as sharp. I dunno, I had an opportunity to drive one, but took a pass. I guess I'd still like to drive one and check it out. I think they look pretty cool.
