i don't see why not. Not everyone is going for all out speed and performance. He could build himself a really nice ride that handles the corners like an italian, and looks tigh as hell, but maybe just doesn't run the 1/4 as fast as a manual. Besides, nitrous is easier to run safely on an auto (if he does need some more go)

Who cares what a dude at a gas station says! Modding your ride feels good...that's what matters, that you feel good about it. Don't go on what some stranger says, that's just their opinion. I would love to turbo my GT auto!!! (right now my car is in the shop-had a little mishap-bout to post a pic)

Im slowly modding my car and its an auto...believe it or not im sure that some of the most "heavily modded" cars on this site are also auto's. Its doesn't matter what people say, if he wants to mod it then do it! I will never understand why people pick on auto's...its not like I take my car to the track or race anyone on the streets. So who really cares what it is!

Autos aren't that fun for me at least. But a friend of mine has an auto G35 sedan with sport shift. That thing is fast...went up to 140 and still looked nice before all the mods and upgrades. Here's his ride. http://www.mostpurest.com/

It all depends. Does your friend want to sell the Celica in the future? Is he or she making a lot of money or will be in the future? Moding a car any car has it's risks on resale. Just kiss the money U spent for added performance parts and install goodbye. If U plan on keeping the old girl or are made of money by all means. Just don't go too crazy if U plan on selling it in the future and plan on getting a return on your investment in the future auto or not.

Depends what he wants to do really. I kind of agree that modding a auto celica performance wise (intake, headers etc..) is kind of pointless but to each their own. Not all autos are slow either just the powerband on celicas is very very bad for autos.

I agree with the above poster though mod where you have a chance of doing well and that is handling. celica can be a great autocross car so just start modding the hell out of the suspension.

Or make it a show car.

But modding your car to make it faster in the 1/4 on an auto celica is kind of pointless.

if it was for me, i would mod its look first b4 performance. you can make it look really nice, from dope 18 in. rims to nice body kit to custom seats (like tan leather with red exterior or something) some dope custom paint. painted engine bay, sports rotors, paint the brake thingy. an intake, exhaust, strut, springs/shocks r good mods for better performance.

his decision

he has to weigh the gains (looks, performance, whatever) to the loss (money that could have been invested, spent on school, whatever) and then come up with a decision on what he wants to spend his hard earned money on

Fuck him and his beliefs if you wanna mod, that's what I say! Plus, some of the nicest show cars are auto, performance cars have auto trannies too but they're not common that's all.

you can make a gt powerful...it's just very expensive and the variety of parts just arent there.

so on the other hand...you can go "all show". kit, wing, neons, entertainment systems, painted dash..etc. the list goes on and on and on.

the celica is a very sporty looking car, and it is a very worthy show car.

Do not waste your money on engine performance parts...I do not think it will make your car faster...
But you can have a better handling of your car if you change(upgrade) your suspention. You can make it looks better by installing the body kit and install the new rims.
You can make it looks better inside too. wave

As a lot of people said, if you have an auto, mod it. Who cares if it's an auto? People see your car more then you race it...just remember that...Celica's are a sweet car and look great, they can be made even greater in looks with money. Sure, he can mod performance as well, but if he isnt interested in performance, he can still make it look sweet. A persons car is like an extension of the owner...just because someone says "Autos suck", dont mean they do and he shouldnt mod it. If someone told you "glasses suck, they are for the weak." would you listen and not wear them? I sure hope that all makes sense! thumbsup
