I saw this on Ebay, and I this is the first product I have come across that has been able to do this, without any soldering being done. Has anyone else had any experience with this kit, or can anyone else reccomend another kit and point me to an install guide? Thanks.

Note: The seller of this product on Ebay informed me that no soldering was necessary? BS?

Here is the Ebay link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33711&item=2449686287

It only does one thing...

"This Kit will turn the center console lights behind the air conditioner control as well as the cigarette light to a blue color"

This is simple to do for less the cash... run down to your local target store and for $14, pickup some blue neon-string... now pull apart your dash and disconnect the stock light bulbs and wrap your blue neon string around the areas you would like to have lit up... connect to electricity and you are done thumbsup

and if you have a Pepboys/Autozone around, im sure you could find a few places to use these at ($0.99 for a 2 pack)...

to go red... I found it to be realy easy to just pickup some "broken tail light repair tape" for $1.99 from Pepboys/Autozone... tear apart your dash and remove the green 'condoms' over the bulbs and replace with a small sheet of carefully cut "broken tail light repair tape" thumbsup

now your gauge lighting is RED!
("broken tail light repair tape" comes in other colors too...)

So I'm guessing that it's easier to just put the different color nipples on the lights, instead of using the neon string?

Also, thanks for the cheaper and easier alternative. This will no doubt save me a lot of time and money that I would have spent on the LED conversion kit, or the repairs to fix everything that I fucked up. grin

What are those things called? I was going to Walmart puke tonight because nothing else is open so I was wondering where I should look for them at, or at least ask one of the retards for them by name.

I'm just wondering if that's what they are supposed to be used for. Seems like it though, but you never know. They could be nipple extensions for people who would like the titty hard-on look all of the time. grin

Hell, you never know.

EDIT: I doubt they would have them on the Target website cause they are so cheap. Maybe an automotive store though?

I also don't get how Isaac explained how to use the neon string. Do you wrap it around the bulb, or do you lay it in the grooves you wish to light up?

yeah, i tried doing searches for things other than lights but i came up empty. i agree that they must be too cheap to put on their site.

looking on autozone now...but i'm not optimistic. i think their too cheap for anything.

i'd stick it to the grooves. could be wrong, but to me thats the only common sense way to do it.

Yeah, I might have to, but I didn't want to resort to going to Walmart. The place smells like ass and it's a haven for hoosiers.

They are mostly use in AUTOMOBILES and there is a slim chance you will find them at Walmart since Walmart is NOT an automotive store rofl do down to your local Pepboys/Autozone and stroll through their few isles of rice-boy toys - you will find them there, no doubt

Thank god...Yeah, Walmart is absolute shit, but I really wanted to do this tonight, but I guess I'll wait until tomorrow morning and do it then. Also, if anyone would like to do this themselves, and are not sure how to go about doing so, let me know and I'll take pics throughout the whole process and make a step by step install guide for ya.
Hell, I figure if there is a guide for installing the S2000 antenae, there might as well be one for this. grin

And as always, thanks Isaac. thumbsup

I looked today at Autozone, and they had a few of them, but there were many different sizes. In one of Isaac's links, it shows them in four different sized, and I was wondering which size if best suited for the Celica.

Good luck finding them in the right size!

Try the colored tape! Or paint, if you want to risk it. thumbsup

I wanted to rip open my console today to look at the lights, and try to size them up, but I didn't have time so I guess I'll buy a shit load of them in different sizes and return what I don't need.

This brings me to another question. How many lights are there in the console that I have to cover? I think they come in packs of two, and I was just wondering about how many I should buy. idunno

Damnit, one more question. spineyes The light covers can only be used to change the color of the console, right? I think for the radio and temp/gas gauge, you have to solder, but I could be mistaken. Thanks in advance. thumbsup

Also, I think I might try the tape, because I'm almost positive that they would let more light shine through, and not restrict and darken it like the nipples would. Who knows.

the best way is just go with what isaac said and use the broken tail light tape, and the neon string is also cool because you can wrap it around all sorts of stuff. i did my rim of my sift boot, the window/door controls and the rim of my dash, and the string only costs 20 bucks at target and is easy to install.

A tip from a girl... I used nailpolish grin SO ghetto I know, but I couldn't find bulb covers or the right sized bulbs so I used a few coats of red nailpolish. And nailpolish now comes in somany colors, blue too... so ask your mom/sister/girlfriend/girl friend to borrow some. I think it'll last longer than the paint some people say to use, but I also like the brake tape idea. Though that may be a little thick. Nailpolish comes in so many shades and tones and shit now. Oh God I sound ghetto...

Even though there isn't a part number for them, someone on this site told me that if you take it and show it to a guy at the parts department, then they will sell you one. Diablo says that you have to buy a whole new board. I dunno what you will have to do, but it will be one or the other.

BTW, a new board costs like $70. frown

I broke my board. I went on ebay and found an entire ac/heater assembly for $20. I took the board and the light bulbs out, and sold the rest to someone for $30 on ebay grin I checked with toyota, they didn't sell the board/bulbs by themselves. But, that was like a year ago. Hopefully, these parts are available now. At any rate, I changed everything to amber. Details here:
