if you go to ebay you will find 2 kicker compvrs for pretty cheap ($175 buy it now). get them and plus a JBL bp600.1 amp because there pretty cheap for the power that they give you. that would probbly put around 350 for each sub because that amp is a bit underrated. it would sound pretty nice.
I just bought 2 alpine type Rs and that jbl amp for around 300 lol. CHEAP!

subs as in 2? you will be hardpressed to find even 2 10" subs and an amp for under $300 brand new (but hey..i've heard of stranger things) but i'd worry about the quality of these products if you are able to get them new for that price.

if cash flow is a problem, i'd recommend buying used.

Go to the pawn shop, I dont know if my parts are hot or not, i got two 800 watt, 15 inch "audiobhanns" in a box (enclosure) for under 100 bucks, now i gotta find an amp that will power them well, i should have gone with a smaller set up, it takes the whole celica trunk, pictures soon!!! (digital is in the mail right now)

imo, a great idea. many pawnshops around here do the installs and guarantee working equipment thumbsup for $300, you can get a lot better quality (although used) than buying new (which you'd have to go extremely cheap)

I have two Alpine Type E 12" subs and a 700 watt mono Alpine amp... Total cost $350 or cheaper if you can find them on sale. With this setup, I hit 140.9 db. Not bad for cheap subs.
