if you wanna see ppl that have their cars custom painted, search "custom paint". ull find the famous gunmetal celica. if you pay good money for paintjob, you wont regret it. but you can take a risk of going cheap.

my only complaint with chameleon paint (my gf's dad has his truck painted this) is that it gives the vehicle an "oily" look.

OK, to answere your questions...

I painted my car like this in July of 2000 when the car had only 6,000 miles on it. At that time, the factory liquid silver paint job was already chiping on the hood.

The House of Kolor paint job is still as perfect as it was three years ago, not a single chip in the paint any where. IMO, the factory paint job seemed kind of fragile to me. This paint job is a billion times more durable than what Toyota did.

I paid almost $6,000. Authentic House of Kolor Kameleon is almost $500 a quart, which is the main reason that my paint job was so much. Plus I bought 3 extra quarts so the paint would be from the same batch, that way I would have perfect matching paint in case I wanted to add a body kit or needed to do repairs. I think that the labor was in the neighborhood of $3000 for the full color change. So if you want to do a full color change with a regular type of paint, expect to pay around $3,500

I am very happy with the quality of the paint job, but was very unhappy with the service that the body shop provided. If I ever have any one do a custom paint job on my car like this again, I will have the body shop put some thing in writing that specifies how long the job will take, and make them pay me $XXXX every day past the agreed upon date. The body shop tore my car apart and sanded all the panels so I was commited to the project, then they began to work on other cars because insurance companies pressure them to complete claims in a prompt mannor. They really jerked me around, it was a long time ago, but I think that they told me it would take about 2 weeks to do my car and it ended up taking over 2 months. Oh well, live and learn. Take my advice, get something in writing! thumbsup

No it's not that classified at all. I am going with Skyline purple, with a pearl clear coat( color of pearl is still in the air yet).

Then i am going to try and pull off the purple/gunmetal combo. I just need my new whells to come in!!! angry angry angry

Gotz a question. IF you paint your automobile a different colore from the original, does the inside stay the same (ie under the hood?)

if you get a good paint shop, they'll paint under the hood. thats the only other place a car needs painting since the 'inside' of the panels remain unpainted. bottom line: you get what you pay for.

i've actually seen a car that got totally stripped for a repaint and they painted inside & out. don't know why this was needed...but it made it into some mags so more power to him.
