Hi!
I have a 2003 Celica GT. I'm absolutely thrilled with it, the car runs great. My worry comes because today I decided to race it and when I threw second gear my tires didn't chirp. This is better though, because I didn't loose any traction, but I'm worried that my car may be loosing power. I threw second gear at redline, pretty fast, so I expected a chirp, but there wasn't any. I did it again and nothing happened either. I don't know, maybe its me, what do you guys think. By the way I have a TRD exhaust and a INJEN Short Ram.
Thanks

I have the exact same car and some time (without NOS) when I have a car full of people it won't chirp. It has to do with weight. It can also be the weather, cold weather makes your tires hard so they will spin without a chirp and hot weather will make your tires stick more so they may not chirop then either...

as noted in the post above me, the weather can play a role. but since you live in puerto rico (closer to the equator) the weather should be almost consistent year round.

another reason the tires won't chirp is that your treads are wearing down on your front tires. the less tread your tire has, the more traction it will have on pavement IN DRY CONDITIONS. if your weather was totally dry, an almost bald tire will give you better traction, and less chirp (if any)

it can also depend on the type of pavement. asphalt and cement are the two most common road surfaces, with asphalt providing more grip in dry conditions (and the hotter the better) and cement providing more grip in wet conditions.

weather and ground. just like the other guys mentioned it. tire wet, dry, low tread wear, low tire pressure(bad alignment), tire size are all factors of tire that effects ur performance and chirp.
wet or dry, up/downhill, sticky, cement, rocky etc...
but if you really have power loss, you should feel power loss on every gear, every rpm.
remember weight distribution also, and remember that ur car is gt, so there is no lift to worry about.
