my team and i where hanging out last night as we were driving along entering a free way there was a sharp turn(almost a 90 degree turn) towards the end of the entrance everyone was taking the turn fast, know ing the celi can take the turn i didnt care but what i didnt expect was the car behind me(she, yea female,a friend of the crew, in a 90 accord-stock)took the turn fast also and guess what...bam her car couldnt take it she lost control she hit the barrier and bounced then hit my rear.. dammit angry anywho i got a good size scartches and a small dent in my driver rear bumper. being a friend and i know she is an unexperience driver(shes 18) we agreed that she would pay for the damages w/o goin thru insurance. i will check body shops 2morrow but how much is she lookin at to get it fixed?? and if the shops said i need a new bumper how much is an OEM bumper + paint would cost btw my car is carbon blue and as far as my knowledge its an expensive paint. i dont want to be a dick and overcahrge her so i need an idea how much it will cost thanks

if i were you, i'ld get am aftermarket body kit. usually, you can get a full body kit installed and painted for less than an OEM bumper.(unless its an expensive kit) and it sound like a good excuse anyways.

if not i think someone on this site was selling a stock bumper in Carbon Blue, but i think it was the front, not real sure, mabey you'll get lucky

from toyota though, it will be pretty expensive i think, i do kow that a factory accord bumper (94) is $856, not sure about a celica though, just call the dealer they will look it up real easy

Call your local toyota dealership and see if they can get you this "52159-20945" in the color you need
(Carbon Blue # 210 - https://celicahobby.com/tech/colorcodes.html )

I hope that $173.79 is the price for pre-painted - and I hope this helps to relieve some of your stress thumbsup

Toyota Dealership may do a 10% mark-up... but still, thats a lot less than paying $200 for fiberglass and then another $250 for paint spineyes

Very true thumbsup

And to add to this - I've never seen a smashed-up Celica with a girl driver, but I have seen several smashed-up Celica with guy drivers spineyes

driving aggressively has its rewards & downfalls - although, driving respectfully has many more rewards to it

OEM bumpers aren't expensive at all, and plus, shops can paint it and clear coat it in less than a couple of days. Usually costs you upwards of $300-$350 USD total (inc. paint and parts). Hopefully that's all that happened. Sorry to hear you got a bump, but things like this do happen, glad ur safe

That's rough dude, but it could've been a lot worse! Glad your both ok, paint can be fixed yah know. That's cool of you to not go through insurance. $173 ain't bad at all, definately cheaper than an aftermarket, even though that was my first thought.

aight heres the word i called a couple of dealers and i would say the average price is about $197+ tax...UNPAINTED
i asked them if i can order it prepainted they said the factory does NOT make them painted so i dunno confused i asked them what the paint to match ment on the catalog they said that it means that it needs to be painted to match the color idunno
and then i went to a dealers body shop and they quoted me $650 eek eek for a new bumper +paint/labor, thats actually cheaper that gettin it fix and painted, i was thinkin to myself hells no!!! so now iam still lookin around for a shop that wont charge an arm and a leg 4 paint.
I personally know a shop that does aftermarket body kits he might paint the bumper cheaper so ill see 2morrow anywho ill keep you guys updated

Yeah, depending on how big and bad this "dent" is, you never know but the frame might be damaged depending on where she hit you. If she hit you on the extreme rear of the bumper then you should be fine, but if she hit you more towards the corner of your bumper, it might have hit the frame.

In my experience with accidents, it's always worse than it looks. But that's just me. Maybe it was just a tap though. idunno

yea she was ok. celicas are very good safety wise. Out of all the pictures of wrecked celicas that i've seen, the passenger compartment was pretty much maintained.

my friends mom had a 00 GT and was rear ended by a big rig/18 wheeler and pushed into another full size pick up truck on the freeway and only escaped with a seat belt burn.
