if you want a 390 whp car, buy one with that potential...

otherwise no and most likely will never happen.

Poop on a stick...well I guess the Celica is gonna have to be used only for looks instead of performace, cause there's to point of tryin to get it to have with cobras

that's why i put all my money into looks...otherwise, I just want headers for more performance...
when friends tell me they want to race, i tell them no or maybe because the car is for show purposes i don't need to race it and ruin something unexpected frown

It'd be easy to get to 390 WHP. All you need to do is find an unguarded SVT Mustang, steal the engine...

A typical transmission is only rated at about 2x it's normal load, and that's if your lucky.

I believe a 1zz with lots of internal work + turbo can reach high figures.

There was this guy in Florida that put a 3S-GTE with a turbo upgrade into his GT and dynoed at 500 hp at 20 something psi.

Something to keep in mind though is that in cars with front wheel drive, you must concern yourself with traction.

plus that's why the RMM Celica has problems...due to tranny...even though that is custom built.

I believe the RMM Ultimate Celica ran into problems when they decided to make it AWD. The guy's celica in FL is FWD.

You wouldn't need to match their horsepower cause we weigh considerably less. Also, they produce 370's whp stock, and most likely 420 bhp.

The 3S-GTE in that guys car was out of an Alltrac Turbo. The Alltrac tranny is more than capable of handling 500 WHP assuming the person driving it doesn't drop the clutch at 6K with a set of 4 Z compound tires on the wheels. You can also buy upgraded rally boxes if you feel like spending the $$$. Mind you that guy was running a non Alltrac tranny and has been accused of ganking that Dyno from a DSM so who knows.

and of course, if you want to take it to the extreme, theres always the turbonetics celica driven by the scrantons...i think its somewhere in like the 1,800 whp range eek

of course, this is with a v8 motor tundra (or tacoma..i forget) motor, rwd, and so much other crap...it's also extremely impractical for a daily driver because its waaaaay too much power. if your doing anything but a straight line, no way.

anything is possible with enough money.

I'm sure you could rebuild the engine completely, boost it, get an entirely new tranny...

if you're going to do all that, just buy a ferrari with 600-700 V12 NA spineyes

ditto that. thats why cars that cost over a million exist...who would want to drive a 500 whp celica anyway? with the $$ you had to do that with..i know a few lamborghinis, ferraris, porsches and aston martins that would be calling me.

even if you coud get a celica to perform as well as that..it just doesnt make sense because its still a celica and still looks like a celica. i wouldnt spend 200k on my celica just to drive it around to hear ppl say.."nice celica, you should see mine!" i'd rather them say "look, mom..thats the first murcielago i've ever seen!"

^^yep...because think about all the money you would put into your celica to make it so many hp...when all that adds up, you probably could have bought a corvette and modded it or 350Z or STi.

I wouldn't, because it's a Chevy. No matter what you do to it, still a Chevy POS.

Better to spend your 50-60K on a Ferrari that is going UP in value, rather than a depreciating Chevy POS, like all american cars

ALL jap cars also depreciate. its high end performance cars such as ferrari and lamborghini that do not lose much value and sometimes actually appreciate in value (you have to keep the miles off AND it has to be very old, though).

that said..a ferrari 360 will depreciate because its not rare enough to ever appreciate. but it depraciates VERY slowly..esp if you keep the miles off thumbsup

if you think a zo6 is pos, your wrong, i don't like domestics either, but a corvette z06 with lessthan 5K under the hood would kick a 200K feraries ass.

All cars depreciate at some point.

But, show me an American car from the last 20 years that is worth 70-80% of it's original value.

There aren't any rofl

Yeah, right.

the 575M Maranello would wipe the floor with a Z06 all day, and all night, everytime, all the time.

of course there aren't any! but there are american cars whose values appreciate.

20 years really isnt long enough for almost any car to appreciate..even european cars (unless production was extremely limited)

The corvette is the only domestic I would think about buying.

Yeah, right.

the 575M Maranello would wipe the floor with a Z06 all day, and all night, everytime, all the time.

gotta agree with that...575s are faasstt

lets do a little comparing: first #'s will be z06, second row of #'s will be 575 maranello:

1. 0-60: 4.0 4.2
2. 0-100: 9.5 9.5
3. 1/4: 12.5 12.2
4. top spd: 171 202

as you can see, the z06 has a faster 0-60, this is because it is so much lighter (v8 vs v12), but after that, the 575 steadily increases and as you can see..totoally wips the top speed of the z06.

z06 is an awesome car..but i'd still take the 575 ANY day.

A 1980's ferrari can be purchased for 40-50K and it WILL go up in value if kept in excellent shape.

a 1980's Vette can be purchased for 10-15K and will be worth nothing for another 20-30 years if kept in execellent condition.

I saw a 1964 Vette for 30K and it was MINT.
A 1964 Aston Martin DB5 (if you can find one) is probably worth well over 300K

Not bad considering both cars, at the time the aston martin was 12K and the Vette was 7K

The corvette Z06 is a great 1/4 mile car, and a nice 0-150 MPH car, but as the Z06 tops out at 170's, maybe 180's, the 575 keeps going, and going, and going... tasty
