Yes and no.

Changing the color doesn't cost any more per se, but if you choose a color that is expensive (like something with metallic flakes or something that has a pearl clear coat, etc.).. that could cost more.

what he said...

painting is painting...
if you want a better paint/fancier/rare anything like that, it'll be a little more.

if you get it a different color is would be more expencive if they did a REALLY good job because the would have to paint your doorsills and such.

exactly if you get it repainted the same color they are only goin to paint the outside.

if you get it a different color then they will pull the motor repaint the engine bay, pull interior paint the inside and trunk as well a total color change is expensive if done right.

you can always get the outside painted a different color but you will get laughed at when you oopen your doors and everyoen sees a differetn color.

Can I ask why you are repainting? The whole process of factory painting is far better quality than you can get in any shop. They negatively charge the paint and positively charge all of the body parts to create better adhesion, then bake parts until they are dry...

You can get a great looking paint job at a good body shop, but it will never be as durable and long-lasting as factory.

Indeed... Many shops have the capability of doing everything that is done at the factory, with the charging of the paint and car, and the the baking. The difference is that a lot of shops will have higher quality spray equipment, use higher quality paint, and generally put more time effort and care into their work. On the other hand, Earl Shibe will paint your car dirt cheap, and you'll get what you pay for. If you're going to do a resurface/refinish on your car, do you research and find a good shop. Expect to pay premium for it, unless you don't care about the quality of the work.

any competent shop will do a MUCH better job repainting your car (the facotory celica paint is kind of cheap anyway--almost everyone i talk to has some sort of complain about it, including myself). any competent shop will put an average of 2 or 3 more mils (mm)of paint and an average of 2 or 3 more mils of clearcoat. much improved..thicker, lasts longer, harder to scratch, mor resistant to fading thumbsup

you do get what you pay for though...NO paint job should be less than 1k here (and i live in new orleans with a very low standard of living, so keep in mind that most places should run even higher for the same job).
