ditto with arguing..you should not be paying $14,000 for an '00 gts. more like $12 (since its from a dealer)
if it wasnt from a dealer..i wouldnt buy it for more than $11, personally.

dont act like you're interested in it... or else he'll know you want it... just mention it casually and see how low they'll go. If they know you want it you'll end up paying full price.

Offer 10 grand for it. Have him talk it up to no more than 12. When I got my 00 gts, I talked it down from 23 to 19 and had them give me the extended warranty good luck dude say stuff like it's ok, I was looking at other models at the other dealers-they seem to want to cut me a good deal, there's a scratch here, etc.

oh yeah, it just hit me
if you have to pay tax at the dealer, then you have to pay tax if you buy it from a private party.
the time you pay the tax if you buy it from a private party is when you go get the title changed to your name.
Check it out, if you don't have to pay tax from a private, let me know, that'll be news to me.

as for the car you looking, it is ok. the problem is that it isnt a toyota dealer and the car is not certified. i think that dealer just sells old cars. best price i found in the area of 818,323,213... was 14,000$ for 44K miles. it is a Toyota Certified car. it is a lot but trust me the best you can find by all the certifieds in the auto buys. you can have it more down probably by complaining: "i hate the color, i have to repaint this when i buy it, so give me off" "i wanted a cloth/leather seat" "i thought body kit comes with the car, im not gonna pay this much for this car with no body kit" "price doesnt match the mileage nomather how much warranty you give me" "brand new gts is 21,000$ out the door full option, 4 years older with 44K miles on it you giving me 6,000$ less? thats just ripping off." dont give them what you want, let them come down, they might come down more than you were expecting. a good price to pay after the bargain is 12,000$
