Yeah you have to call them and activate the service...but there are other things that you need other than just a XM-compatible deck. You will also need a Pioneer XM tuner that runs between your deck and your XM antenna (that you will also need to purchase). I used to work at Best Buy, and almost got burned on not getting all of the extra stuff.
Just FYI.

My stepdad has it, and I've seriously considered it. I like it because yeah it does have the variety of what I like (techno, rap, rock and/or roll, pop, classical). Plus, it's pure digital baby smile

I totally agree with celicaTRDgts with the burned CD's and everything. Hell, it's usual for me to go months without listening to a regular radio station (except for traffic reports). Me, personally, would get the service, but thats just my $.02

too bad you are stuck with xm cause SIRIUS has no commercials, but I've heard xm and it sounds just as nice. With my SIRIUS I put a cd in like every 2 weeks cause there are so many station choices and other features. I would recommend either thumbsup

i work at best buy and have the same deck. Xm is going commercial free in like the next week or two. They will have sirius beat for sure. That deck is awesome. Some antennas have been successfully mounted on the dash, but now are so small that they are not noticed outside of your car either. I had xm, but didnt switch it from my cavalier to my celica. id go for it

it's worth it if you travel a lot.

if all you mainly do is drive around in town to get from point A to point B, don't get it.
