So I decided to wait till I get my coilovers before getting my sway bars put in so I can getmit all done at once and save some $$$ hopefully. Now I need to decide between TRD and Tein. Any opinions or personal experience? I have lots of respect for TRD, but I wonder if its worth an extra 200$.

imo, tein makes a good product thats very comparable to the trd. save yourself $200 thumbsup

I would go with Tanabe. You can go with the sustec pro ss II for ride comfort or you can go with the sustec pro ss if you go to the track on the weekends. I've heard that the Tein SS tend to rust after one winter & here I am in my first winter with my Tanabe coilovers and they till look like new smile

utah also has a dry climate smile i doubt much of anything rusts over there.

It's only dry during the summer. We get a lot of snow during the winter and in spring, it might rain for only a couple days, but it'll rain non stop. That's why our state slogan is "Greatest Snow on Earth" tongue

If TRD made coilovers for the Celica when I got decided to purchase some coilovers I probably would have got them. I just think Toyota would put more extensive development into their own cars, I may be wrong. Doesn't Tein supply stock dampers for Celicas overseas, I may be wrong there again? I have Tein HA's and love them other that mine didn't have an available upper mount when I ordered them the new SS does. They were cheaper than Zeal Function B6, Hotchkis, and Jic, but thier performance is comparable other than the whole system from Hotchkis or maybe Jic. I heard also about the rusting problem with Tein coilovers before and mine seem fine. Just have to do some maintenance on them some times like any other part of your car.

yeah actually i am in florida, its nice to have 65 F days when the rest of the east coast ids frozen in place. I would go springs and struts but i have a brs body kit and the front is low as it is, another inch would be scraping all the time. Then tanabe's look good but are much more expensive so im going to skip those. JIC's are the same deal. UNless I hear something concrete about the teins i think im going with those.

If the money isn't an issue go with true coilovers. I don't know if this helps, but when I was researching coilovers for my ride I keep in contact with a dozen different places. Some of those places had told me to go with Tein if I could get them in this country. That was before when the weren't readily available. If you get Tein find someone who knows how to tune them properly.

i suggest JIC FLT-A2 coilovers, and if not that then Cusco zero coilovers they are awesome

They are awesome, but then again that's something for a serious track racer or someone who has money to spend in this country. They are overkill for the street driver/sometimes racer. The Teins can be way stiff enough especially with a pillowball/upper mount. Try driving on a pothole street with those. Better for Japanese roads or the track and they cost a lot more in comparisson to just a spring/strut or Tein, or TRD.

Yes but he is looking at the SS, not the HA's. The SS or not as stiff and are more comfortable for a daily driver!!!

dude it depends on what type of driving your doing, if your doing daily drive non-racing stuff... go for trd, they are jsut some brand name suspension with "trd" logo on it... its great to have trd but "tien" would be better, i wish they came out with tien coilovers before i purchased my TRD suspension... trd was way not worth it... besides, if your doing suspension go for the best ones, your life is not worth a cheap mod... dont be dumb like some people who ricecut their springs jsut for looks... rice, which doesnt help your handling thumbsdown

Just ordered the Tein SS from suprastore! (got to know them with the old mk3) Nice price, too, 1100 straight up with shipping. (1055 w/out) Now... anyone know how easy it is to install these?? I would assume i would need a spring compresser but after that i really dont know. ANy help??
