i was at work the other day and was talking to this kid who works there, and he started to tell me about this liquid fiberglass that you can pour on anything and it will take the shape and then harden. he mentioned people using it with their subs in the trunk and making it look flawless, i was just wondering if anyone has ever used it or know what i am talking about. (thats if you unerstood what i wrote =P)

Friend of mine is using the stuff to mold his body kit on his prelude, it's not that hard.. just time consuming.

Check it out. I believe what you're thinking about it somthing called "Fiberglass Resin". You can brush it on anything, most commonly cloth, to get the rounded look; it dries and hardens into like a plastic shell. Alot of fabricators brush it into strips of fiberglass cloth to make it go faster, because it is time consuming to use only resin. The cloth makes it thicker faster. Be careful when using anything fiberglass related, the fumes are flammable, hazardous, etc. Happy Glassing!
Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.

i saw the guys use it on american chopper on tv. its like this gluey paste that you mix with some fiberglass flakes. it has a consistancy like mayonaisse. it looked really messy when the guys worked with it. it did dry up pretty hard though. you just need a good mold if you are gonna do something like this

If you are talking about fiberglass resin, it really isnt the new unheard of thing out there. It is also messy, toxic (hardner), and somewhat difficult to do and can be expensive if you buy quality products (West Systems, uni directional weave, carbon fibre, etc). Unless you use cloth (glass or carbon fiber mat or weave) it is super brittle (basically worthless esp. But, if you are willing to take some time and learn to work with it it makes building stuff much easier. I got used to working with it in the boating world, starting with just repairs and moving on to molds and just laying up from scratch. I have done lots of windsurfing parts (boards and skegs) as well as fitting body kits and the like. Needless to say you save money in the long run, esp if you are willing to do work for others. If you want to learn how to work it the best thing is to go get a book and some cheap resin from lowes or home depot and some glass cloth and start working on making stuff. It takes a bit but its not rocket science. Best o luck.

it could be GEL COAT the guy is talking about.or bar top resin.the bar top resin can be mixed and poured you can use a plastic putty knife or a ruler etc. to spread it cause its thick, but when it dries,it dries smooth, clear and hard like rock (just like bar tops)you can check any marine,or boating supply stores, they usually carry that kind of stuff.
