what kind of engine oil do you suggest? And what is suggested by toyota? I go no manual(book) and my car needs a good service.

What else shall I change besides oil and oil filter??

Change it with a synthetic, Mobil 1 is what most people use. 5W30 and a decent filter.

If you don't wish to change it yourself, Jiffy lube sells mobil one plus filter change for $59.99

Walmart sells 5 quarts *enough for GTS or GT* for 18.99 and a K&N gold line filter is like $10.

you do the math if it's worth your time. The GTS takes 4.5 quarts I believe... confused

Here is the install manual from ecelica.com

Good luck! wave

I haven't used Redline or Royal Purple MOTOR oil yet! I have a big ass case of mobil 1 I'd like to use up before switching to redline or RP.
From what I hear, Redline and RP are HIGH quality motor oils but I'm not saying mobil 1 sucks. Mobil 1 is excellent. thumbsup

from my experience..

redline > royal purple > mobil 1 > toyota genuine oil

redline's 8 bucks a quart...but performace is better than royal purple at 5.5 a quart (not much though)...great stuff...helped get me to 35.5 miles a gallon hwy driving in an auto..not bad thumbsup

I use Royal Purple . . . Never tried Red Line but heard it's great.

Royal Purple is the best oil I've used compared to Penz, Castrol, Mobil, and all the other ones most retailers carry.

I use a K & N oil filter, best filter I've used compare to all other brands I've tried ~ STP, Deutch, Bosch, etc.

You could also use a Genuine Toyota Filter, they're really good!

what huge difference is there in synthetic oil? I just had my motor replaced and after a few changes i could probably switch it out. Just wondered what it would do for me besides eat my wallet

it doesn't break down as fast... like 4000 miles + before it loses it viscosity. and it lubricates better. you should put about 1000 miles on your engine before switching to full syn.

Yeah, spaz is on the money, with synthetic, I don't feel the oil breaking until around 4k. I love synthetic
