My team is seriously thinking of boycotting HIN this year because of there policy that is being implimented for SO CAL ONLY! Let me give you a little background info on the situation. At the beginnig of the year Vision Ent. released the schedule for the upcoming events that they were holding this year. On the list HIN SD and HIN LA were listed as being in the same location. Then about a week to a week and a half into Dec. they announced that they dropped the SD show alltoghether in favor of just ONE SoCal show. This actually came as a welcome change for many of us because that meant that we wouldn't have to go down to street racer central (aka San Diego).
As we were preparing to register for the event we found out that we had to pass a screening process to even just register for the event. I know this may seem a perfectly good way of getting only the best of the best to attend the event, but many of us in the import community took it as a slap in the face. Many of us usually prepare for the show as it comes up. Now they wanted to judge us before we even got into the freaking convention center.
My team feels that the judging should be kept to the event only and not be part of the regestration process. This would allow those of us who usually take up to the day before the event to put the final touches on our cars to still be able to register for the event.
Another thing that got us wondering how legit this show would be is the fact that if they let everyone from LA and SD to register with the event why would they only have a small hall for the show. I remeber last year a lot of people complaining that the show was WAY too small and that they should have opened up the divider between the ticket booths and the actual show to allow more cars to participate.

In closing I would like to invite everyone here to participate in the boycott of HIN LA. I was thinking that maybe we could get together on that day and have a bigger and better event that HIN usually turns out to be.

Thanks for listening guys.

thing is they did have POS civics and shitty cars. HIN is actually known to give the best spots to those cars because they usually belong to the biggest crews. And I wouldn't be surprised to see that many of the cars there are from LA rather than SD.

Hot Import Nights is intended for the very best imports from each region. They screen cars before the show and make sure that you have your shit straight before you get in, and if they dislike an aspect of your car, you have to go home.

The entry requirements are different for each kind of car. Hondas need hardcore bodykits, oversized wheels, and full ICE, along with some JDM motor and lots of other goodies. It is easier (and far more expensive) to get an E46 M3 into the show. Throw some dubs on and about 100 TVs inside and your set to compete.

Am I the only one who thinks they shouldn't screen, purely for the humor aspect? I actually would love to be looking down the rows and see some unpainted civic with hubcaps between a 600 HP supra and a IS300 with 25 TVs. Give me something to thatsfunny at.

So You and your team boycott it, In all honesty it will be no skin off thier nuts they'll just use someone else. Sounds to me like its thier game so you have to play by thier rules.

i was thinking these new rules had something to do with sponsors. the sponsors only want their cars in the show. they don't want any people who spend their hard earned money and time to create their own cars competing against sponsored vehicles. then you only see sponsored cars with the brand names plastered everywhere. it may help the show by only having some of the best cars, but it eliminates the die hard fan who works hard, saves money, and builds his car him/herself from the ground up.
