My friend did a check on my engine (Check Engine Light was on) and found that two of my cylinders had low compression. He did the oil test and discerned that it was either the piston rings or the bore. I recently bought the TRD high compression piston set with rings, and was wondering what other (not over-the-top expensive) mods I might do while I'm changing my pistons, while I remove my engine. Please advice me on the mods and the costs involved, as well as the gains thanks, mark

since you are taking the engine out: 1) change the lift bolts.(if they are worn will feel a difference) 2)get an arp bolt kit (no hp but reliabilty increases alot) 3)if you have headers or even the stock manifold, wrap them with 1/8th exhaust wrap as well as the downpipe.(you will pick up a few hp minimum depends on you header) 4)pulleys.(5-7 if you get the full set) 5)mounts (no hp made, but your ability to transfer whats there improves alot) 6)i didnt hear you say valves etc.(reliabilty increases) 7)why dont you get the pistons and valves ceramic coated you might want to squeeze a little nitro on them later(you didnt mention how high a compression you are running.in any case,if it can drive on the street it can take a little shot at the track)(reliabilty increases some say you pick up something in terms of hp cause it increases comp slightly, and it keeps more uniformed heat in the chamber.thats from my tech guy,but i think he was refering to super bikes at the time)but i do no its nice for squeezing nitro. the above are very cheap to do and since the motor will be easy to work on might as well do as much stuff as possible.

HYBRID:resulting from the combination of two or more mechanically dissimilar origins! "...... code":every man is a shadow, let him be treated as such, until proven otherwise by a show of character or code!

thanks for the info! The TRD pistons will be running 13:1, "The TRD piston is made by aluminum forging as compared to the standard aluminum casting process. On top of the light weight characteristic (70g) the TRD piston has administered molybdenum (A polyvalent metallic element that resembles chromium and tungsten in its properties; used to strengthen and harden steel) processing to the skirt section." Do you think I should get the DC headers? oh yeah, do you know where I can get all these stuff?

Winnipeg has a gas company, mohawk that sells octane 94 but it's blended with ethanol. I've been doing some reserach about the mods you were recommending, and I've decided I don't wanna do the pulleys because of the possibility of adverse effects on my engine. What is the arp bolt kit? where can I find it? is the exhaust wrap as good as a DCsport header or port and polish? what about the valves? is there something I can do to them? sorry I'm still green on these engine modifications... and GRoupbuy4celica's not offering lift bolts anymore, any idea where I can find some?
appreciate the help, mark
